This is the first time posting here. I figure I should Introduce myself I'm going by Anna here and someday it will be my real name. I know this is bad but I started mtf hormones diy style on September 1, 2007, I know this is dangerous and that all I gonna say about the hormones. Why I started on journey because I felt like I could no longer live my life for others and I had to start liking myself. Last year at age of 32 I realize I was becoming even more masculine almost like second puberty. This caused more depression for me. I felt like the only way could continue with my life was to start this transition. Right now I'm in the closet feeling horribly alone at times. also I feel a bit selfish doing for this. Anyways most of my days have been good days which is the most I could remember in years.

Take care everybody,
Anna

Hi Anna and welcome,

I'm glad you're finding some happiness and found this site.  Maybe you could find a good doctor soon to help with your transition?

Hello, Anna, and welcome to Susan's.

I am not a physician so I don't give medical advice, however, I urge you to be careful with estrogen.  It can cause damage to the liver that is not repairable thus rendering your body unable to tolerate any estrogen, however small the amount.

Don't try to make your changes all at the same time.  More estrogen taken per day does not produce better feminization results.

Have you considered talking to a gender therapist and a physician, preferably and endocrinologist?  I'd hate to see you get hurt because you don't have the right info.

Please be careful.

Hi Anna,
Glad to meet you. Welcome to Susan's.
I really know how terrible it feels to have the wrong type of body.
It really sucks. Many here will do anything to correct it.
But please listen to the advice of buttercup and Wing Walker.
Let a doctor help you fix your body, self medication is just way to dangerous.
And can even be deadly.
Keep posting.

Welcome Anna,

I am new here also.  There are a lot of similar people here and lots of information to absorb and share.

I too am struggling with the concept of doing what I want with the remainder of my life, and not what is expected of me, but be careful and weigh up every step you take.  You may do more harm than good if you don't take proper care of things.

Looking forward to your continuing story.

Jenny

:o Welcome Anna. It's a nice place here, I'm sure you'll like it. As others have said and still more will tell you, self medication can lead to unknown problems that need to be understood and treated by a qualified physician. You need to know what's going on in your body and this is something you can't see with the naked eye, and may not find out if something is wrong until too late. Please get someone to check on your body on a regular basis. It's the only way to be sure.

You'll find a lot more useful info here as well, and questions are of course always welcome.

Good morning and afternoon everybody,

Thanks for your replies. I have emailed a psychologist in Nashville tn, have not received a reply yet. It looks like I will have to use the telephone to contact a therapist. I need to know the rates before going because right now I need to watch my funds. Another problem is I live Lawrenceburg tn, and it is almost a hundred miles from both Huntsville AL and Nashville. I would like to find therapist near Lawrenceburg or Florence Al where I attend University of North Alabama part time. Will a therapist see me if I tell them I already started hormones?
I'm nervous about contacting people in the medical field about six weeks ago I found out a family member had cancer as usual I have a tendency to quit eating and drinking under stress. So I was feeling sick it was a Sunday only place was open was the ambulatory center. I went there and figure I need to tell him what I have been taking since I had a bad case of incontinence. It almost knock him out of his chair. He told me what I doing wasn't wroth it and I was making a big mistake to make a long story short. I was on the edge of panic attack, I felt let just say really, really bad, had the shakes for about a week, and have a fear that I could be outed at anytime. Which I'm not sure to being outed would be so bad, except for ruining my short term plans. It is still was another worry to add to my list. I need to be sure I'm going to see the right people.  I have made already 2 mistakes with my medication. So I do need a doctors help with this.

Thanks for your input,
Anna

Anna,
I'm glad you are seeking professional help.
You live in Lawrenceburg?
My sister use to live there but now she lives in the Summertown area in Amish country.
I think Nashville would be your best bet and it is a little closer.
Do keep use informed.
:)

Welcome to Susan's, Anna. I'm happy that you are seeking professional help. Taking hormones without a doctor's advice is very risky. I hope this forum wil help you and that you can find and make friends here.

Thanks, for the replies I had a rough day today but your messages really do help. Especially after finals and being nit picked by my family seem like anything I do differently becomes a big deal. They don't know about me wanting to become a woman. Jillieann your last message gave me a feeling of deja vu. I think may have posted here before. Sorry I didn't stay.

Thanks
Good Night All
