This is going to be triggery on a multitude of levels. Brace yourself before reading.

Today I was in Boston, and when I was growing up I was taught about the dangers of the city, the bad people who live there, and how to stay safe from them. Today I forgot all of that and paid the price.

It started out simply enough, I was walking around downtown enjoying the fresh air and sunshine and built up quite an appetite. Before I knew it I was standing in front of a food truck, one of those overgrown ice cream trucks with the big vent on the roof. It was painted pink (I should have known something was wrong). It was a Bacon Truck, covered in drawings of bacon engaged in whimsical activities, and the air was an intoxicating blanket of porky goodness.

The back door of the truck was open and one of the employees said "Bacon, little girl?" and I said "Yes!" and got right in. I forgot everything Momma ever told me. I got my bacon, but they had their way with me....I'm going back tomorrow.

Hmmmmmm, my mother never told me this. This is new to me. I love the cities, but yes I am cautious and watch my surroundings while in big cities. I love going to them because they are so full of life and party per say. Yum, bacon is the best but, creep! Run away like they said above.

I am not sure I understand this thread. As you all know, I have a reputation for being terribly naive. Is 'bacon' a euphemism here? I mean it wasn't a sausage truck. And Boston is known for its 'beans' so I must admit to being a little lost. Gosh Devlyn, can't ya just give us dumb girls a hint here?

  How much did they get from you? I'm pretty sure the cost was both in cash and calories.

Thought you might appreciate my bacon stash. The bottom one is a 3 pound package divided into daily use stacks of 5 rashers each. It shows the fate of the other two when I get around to it. I just bought them yesterday.

I got the Classic BLT, $8.50 and no one there was talking calories, trust me! For three bucks
you can get a Bunch o' Bacon which is several strips in a wax paper bag. The couple behind me had
a big Akita and he got one of those. Happy dog!

yep they had their way with you.  I got each of the 3lb slabs on sale for $10 each. and it is thick sliced which makes them better. the one on the right is peppered bacon.

Laurie, you do it the hard way, I take a package of bacon and bake it on cookie sheets. I can then role it in single serving size stacks in a single sheet of plastic wrap and freeze it. When I want bacon, I take a couple of slices out, wrap them in a paper towel and nuke for 15-20 seconds. Much faster and a lot less mess than cooking from scratch each time. Oh and the left over bacon grease, I save it in the refrigerator for frying.

I prefer the aroma of freshly frying bacon while getting the rest of the meal prepped. I've never cooked bacon in the oven and don't plan to start. And yes the bacon grease is preserved for later use.
