Nevoxia, I'm also prone to in grown hairs shaving against the grain, but found that acetasallicylic acid products (Tend skin is the name brand, there are cheaper options though) actually work, at least for me. You might want to give them a try and see if you can risk the against the grain shave. In general I'm horrible at shaving, too poor to switch out blades enough, and go over the same area repeatedly in an OCD attempt to clear every last hair I feel from every angle. So yeah, I'm basically murdering my face and chest and it showed. Adding the coconut oil layer even without shaving cream combined with tend skin for spot treatment the second a bump shows has me cleared up almost entirely, with only one or two long term bumps/in-growns that are being stubborn. Though I've read it doesn't work for everyone and may actually just give you a rash, so one of those many wonderful YMMV things.
