What's a reasonable cost for laser on face?

Okay, maybe I'm just old school and sheltered, but I have no clue how groupons work. I've shopped around and paid for consultations at all the local reputable clinics, getting fairly consistent pricing of between $2000 and $3200 for 6-8 sessions of beard area (face and neck.) I would love to find a cheaper way to do it, since I'll definitely still need facial electrolysis after. Can someone please give me the lowdown on groupons?

HUGS!

I'm amazed how expensive laser is over the pond.  Here, with a highly reputable skin clinic I managed to get 8 sessions for about £570 ($750).  I think normally it's more expensive (just under £1000) but I guess if you get your timing right there are some good deals to be negotiated

I am shocked at the prices, too, and I am in the US.  I have consistently paid about 100 usd per session, and usually get as 6 for 500 usd deal.  That is for the face and neck and with a good laser; not the junk that doesn't work.
Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

Go to groupon dot com, search for laser hair removal deals in your area.  These deals are kind of an advertising scheme to get you in the door at a low price in the hopes that you'll use other services at full price.

You buy a package on the site, go to the vendor, redeem the voucher you get when you buy the package, and go enjoy the sweet agony of success.

That said, there are a lot of scheisters on groupon trying to pass IPL off as laser.  Don't be afraid to call up vendors that seem like they have good deals and ask them what sort of laser they use.  If they're legit they'll tell you, and you can go look it up on the internet to see what it is.  If they ask why just explain that you're trying to avoid IPL.

There's not many places around that offer this service, so my options are limited.

I'm in the same boat. My options are a spa with prices along the lines of yours, a dermatologist who has bad reviews and almost as bad of pricing, or travel an hour for prices that are better but still a good 50%+ above the numbers I'm seeing here. So much for picking up any cheap games on black friday for me.

Colleen beat me to the following while typing but I'm posting anyway. ;D

Jenny, go to groupon.com or download the groupon app. It is just coupons or discounted rates on random things, but for whatever reason has become boilerplate to use for the spa and cosmetics industries. (Along with compression socks. There's a ton of compression socks on that thing...) Just search your area for laser hair removal, should bring anything right up to use as a pricing guideline. Of course you have to do independent research once you find a place with a groupon deal to make sure they aren't terrible or scams, plus find out if they are trans friendly.

Cost me a little over $300 per session for full face and neck. This is done by a board certified plastic surgeon with a real laser (Gentlelase).

for Laser I paid $3,000 for 9 Laser sessions (full face and neck) with up to 4 additional "touch up" sessions if there's anything left.  scheduled 8 weeks apart

I'm also doing electrolysis every other week on my chest.  $65 for each 45 minute session.

I'm now tending to agree a price for chest or back (at around $200) and when they've nearly completed it offering them a small amount (around $30) to do face and neck there and then. They've not yet refused my offer of hard cash and it seems to be saving me money.

Interesting point on the cash. I'd wager some of those short sessions where cash exchanges hands probably don't make it into their tax records. ;D

What I don't see I don't know )

It's also "interesting" to go from laser on my back which I can hardly feel straight to laser on my upper lip which, let's just say, I CAN FEEL!

Not sure of a price and haven't started myself yet still getting a consultation setup up but there's a place called Ideal Image that is currently having a 70% off sale you can try checking them out and seeing if they have a place near you.
If you can't accept yourself,  how can you expect others to accept you?

I have been to a doctor who does hair, tattoo removal and some of those non invasive fat loss treatments in her afternoons and gynecology appointments in her mornings. Because I had a dark tan on my face at the time she used a laser with 1200 nanometer wavelength I think. She had to hold it a certain distance from my skin. It definately had some power as a lot of hairs literally popped out of my skin into the gel she applied to my skin. For my first experience I was pleased with the effects but she missed areas. So I had these clear circular spots with dark hairs between them in places. Her per session price $300 us.

Since then I have been living close to a dermatologist office that does laser. There an RN operates the laser. They have the kind that can be placed on the skin and has a square application window. She does a really good job of covering everything. However their laser seems of lesser effect. It does induce a full shed of dark hairs. Just doesn't hit as hard as the other laser type. Their price is $325 us per session.

Both places had package prices for 5 or 6 sessions but I could not afford to buy a package all at once so I pay as I go.
