Hi all,

I'm 67 years old and very strongly m2f.   I have no idea how I've lasted as long as I have without transitioning except for the love I feel for my wife of 30 years.   I have always "passed" (I hate that word) without hormones, but a year and a half ago a dam burst inside me.   The push to transition just got too strong.

We started therapy, I restarted electrolysis (face was already 99.5% done), and eventually started low dose estrogen (I was in horrible shape, depressed, sobbing, - I mean, lose my wife or not transition - yikes, what a dilemna).

We were able to work some things out, I now volunteer once a week at a non-profit (passing as cis).   But still, I will lose her if I transition.

Now, I have to stop my estrogen due to an ischemic stroke I had a few days ago.

Who knows what's next.  But I still have my volunteer job. ;) :

Thank you, Danielle.

Another complication has developed and I wonder if other members are in a similar situation.  I had a small stroke over the weekend in the ballance centers in my brainstem.   I pretty much have recovered (except for some small spelling errors).

But no more estrogen for me.  I'm not going to risk my life.

I see my gender doc soon.  Maybe an antiandrogen will keep things the way there are.  We'll see.  At least, I wasn't planning transition, although I ache in my bones to do so

Hello Russngrl,

Sorry to hear of your stroke, lets hope that its residual effects are minimal.

I'm a few years older than you and not as strongly oriented, being a cd who is comfortable only being "out and about" occasionally.  And I have a wife who is not as accepting as your's seems to have been (I've been following various threads, both from the "transitioner" view as well as the "wife" view, where people talk about that struggle).  Good luck with the struggle -- and remember to keep thinking about possible ways to achieve what you need that might also work for her.

Meanwhile, welcome to Susan's Place.  I think you'll like what you find here.

Hey!

Sorry to hear about your stroke and your wife view on transition. It's tough situation, but you have great attitude. Hope you'll find a way to make things better than now.
Welcome here!

Btw, thanks for link to female voice club :) I'll consider to use it later, but saved it ^_^
