I had social anxiety for most of my life. Before I transitioned it displayed itself in anger. Now it is more like depression and intense anxiety. I read up on some things about HRT and noticed that brain activity can change. Could it possibly be the hormones that is causing this change in how it presents itself?

Ehhh it's hard to determine. First thing you should know that, depending on age, of course, the first year or so of HRT will be fraught with mood swings and irritability. These effects can and most likely will exacerbate any mood disorders you presently have (or may alleviate them, if the disorders are a product of dysphoria and not separate conditions unto themselves). I speak, of course, from personal experience and my insight should not be considered a suitable substitute for actual medical advice from a licensed physician. Talk to your doctor (but be warned, even they might not be able to tell you... like with any medication, it's all just a game of "let's wait and see).
