The vast majority of Christianity worldwide does not accept us.  It is what it is so it shouldn't be surprising.

Christians I have no problem with, I'm married to one. Christianity, however, is a deep pool of assorted personality types .. you know, people. There's good with the bad. The bad are not Christians no matter how loudly they yell it.

And ... that's enough about religion for me.

I am sorry your wife had to deal with that though. she did right cutting them off.
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

Don't blame christianity, blame the church, that sect of power that has millions of people under their control. They tell people what's good and bad according to their needs and likes. Not so long ago, you could earn paradise by killing muslims. Or anyone that did'nt follow their beliefs. Now things haven't changed much. God teaches us to forgive, forget, accept and love everyone, except for the ones that don't do what they're told to.
That woman is just another victim of the church...

Lady Lisandra has a great point!!! At it's core Christianity talks about charity and being fair and kind to your fellow man. When you talk about individual sects of Christianity is when things differ and change. I grew up mormon and yes, LGBT's are not accepted in our church, you are shunned and shut out. Then you are called to repent because you are sinning by being LGBT. I found this to be a great big falsehood and not fair to say about anyone. I am attending a nondenominational church now and they don't say anything about me being trans and in fact value me as a member. So it all depends on the sect, region, and preacher.

They're told it comes under the "gay thing" which the Abrahamic religions love so much. But there's nothing specific in the Bible forbidding a person from being trans. They hadn't even invented complex surgery when that was written. The only thing that comes close is the part forbidding the sexes to wear each others' clothes, but if she was gonna get technical on that I'd expect her never to mix her fabrics, eat shellfish or work on a Sunday either. . .

Yep, it comes down to rep and what pastors say. We have a reputation for being part of LGBT matters, or for being part of the crowd who take part in "body modification" (often banned by these religions) so we're painted as part of the banned stuff by default.

Anyone who says quit medicine and hope god sorts everything out for you is... probably not a person to pay serious attention to.

It would appear to me that many people (several in non-christian groups) believe that nobody should ever take any medications  or get any vaccinations. Many of them happen to be hypocrites. They will take an aspirin or something to alleviate pain. If they get cancer, they will get radiation or chemo. The same thing goes for hatred towards LGBTI. Some of those that profess to hate the gays, are gay. Some are pedophiles.

I like this.

I personally think you can believe whatever you want, just don't hurt others. This  person violated this with her communication. To me anytime someone surrenders their ability to use their own logic in favor of blindly following someone else's construct, there is potential for trouble. I firmly believe in thinking for yourself.

I grew up catholic and I don't remember hearing a word of hate preached at church. But then again, I had a hard time paying attention because I was bored out of my mind at mass  >:-) I don't consider myself a believer, but I'm open to it, I'd like to believe. I stay away from religion because each one has so many different interpretations. I was afraid to tell one of my friends about me because she's really christian, but she turned out to be one of the most accepting people that I've told and she is all around one of the most kind and sweet people I have ever met. There's a lot of bad Christians out there, but there's good ones too. I thought one lesson from the bible is that you shouldn't judge people, right? I try not to!

I grew up Catholic also. It seems the American branch of the Catholic Church is very accepting of LGBT generally. Never once growing up or in Catholic grade school was hate or exclusion ever taught. We were taught the bible but were taught to think and try to understand the message intended and not the literal words. For instance, the parish priest would come into our class during religion once a week or so. He taught us in 2nd grade that the stories Jesus told were parables. He taught us to think in terms of metaphor and parable and taught us what those words mean. This is the scholarly side of Christianity. Something I have found to be common with Jewish Rabis as well.
Unfortunately I have seen very few other Christian pastors who teach thinking. So many churches like the Southern Baptist and Penecostals who use single lines from the bib,e and jump around between different books and acts to string together a message of exclusion and in the end hate of anyone different than their version. This is what many seminary schools teach their pastors. This is so far from the message Jesus tried to teach or the example of his life and attitude of inclusion of all.

Now I know the history of the Catholic Church. I understand how the current bible was modified and only certain parts were chosen by Constintine's Conclave of leader of the early church. I know how the official Latin bible has mistranslations both accidental and purposeful from those days. I know the pope and Catholic leadership are very slow to modify their "official" stance.

But things do change. I am openly trans and my kids go to a Catholic grade school. So yes many dads looked away when they first saw me. When I walked from the parking lot to pickup my kids with all the other parents I was very nervous. The teachers were great. The moms standing around saw me and never skipped a beat of their conversations. I did not get any stares. It was such a relief. The weirdest thing for me was one day getting my kids from after care. They were in the cafeteria that day because of weather couldn't play outside. School security requires being buzzed in. It is about 5 steps down from the playground pavement. So I walked up and stopped at the top of the stairs. A couple of dads were waiting for the door lock to open. When it did the dad that opens the door held it and told me to go ahead. So strange having guys hold the door for me.

This topic should be cleared up, there are many christians who don't believe being gay or transgender is a sin, they accept us for who we are and for good and logical reasons. The bible doesn't give a precise enough explanation at to whether transgender is a sin or not. Most of these christians and christian religious groups who speak out against gays and transgenders are very bigoted and indoctrinate others, they are also indoctrinated themselves. Like the Westboro baptist church for example, the blind leading the blind that they both fall in a ditch. There is confusion as to whether homosexuality is a sin because the bible in some context seems to condemn homosexual rape like what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah and not being gay itself. Jesus Christ had even helped a gay couple and did not condemn them for being gay or say that being gay is wrong. Jesus also seems to indicate that people are born gay in some bible passages, which he is right just like people are born transgender and its not a personal sinful choice but the bible doesn't give heads or tails about transgenders being corrupted sinful people or not so these christians have no idea and are probably deceived.

The modern christian church has taken a turn for the worst and has been led astray by wolves in sheep's clothing (some pastors and church leaders) pushing forth their own skewed ideologies and teachings that seem to contradict and distort the bible or do not line up with what biblical scripture actually says but they insist that their teachings do. They also lie constantly and it's all for a hidden agenda or ulterior motive in my opinion. The bible doesn't preach such hatred but modern christianity has impacted the world in a very negative way now that it gives people a bad impression but it depends because modern christianity has also done much good in the world too. God loves everyone including gays and transgenders. He is merciful and gracious. He is not some petty and vindictive god only looking to punish us that some misguided and ignorant christians make him out to be. He wouldn't punish someone based on gender or sexuality.

Jesus said bear fruit of the Spirit, these christians bear rotten fruit and some don't bear any fruit at all. There is no neutral zone if you want to follow Christ either, a christian has to do it wholeheartedly and earnestly with practical effort in their faith which many do but they allowed themselves to be indoctrinated by hateful and bigoted ideas and teachings. They only hear about the bible from secondhand sources and don't study it themselves which has only led to corruption and misconceptions.

Jesus summed up the law of God with two simple commandments: love God and love your neighbor, pretty much love everybody. Don't judge or condemn them, only God should judge.

Jesus also said love the sinner, but hate the sin, show love and compassion. Not that being gay or transgender is a sin.

Much content of the bible is spiritual, it needs to be interpreted spiritually as well not just taken at face value. It is also metaphoric or symbolic. Much things in the bible, especially the old testament were only relevant for the time and a record of history for the Hebrew people.

I consider myself more spiritual than religious as i believe religion is man made.

I believe transgender women have the soul or spirit of what we identify ourself as and in heaven it might manifest spiritually. We might even be reincarnated as cis gender women as the Jews believe or in heaven if we ask God to give us a female spirit as he did say ask and you will receive. Same goes for transgender men but vice versa. This is just my personal beliefs though. Who knows really...

The bible has been mistranslated and mistransliterated. It's been corrupted and like josie said certain parts were taken out and added into it in almost all the bible versions we have today especially the english ones. The hebrew and aramaic versions might be more accurate to the original copies of the scrolls and manuscripts. There are the lost books of the bible to consider too and the dead sea scrolls.

Yeah, i'm christian which might turn some people off, but i'm not so rigid and conceited in my beliefs and i have an open mind. I don't force anything down anyone's throat. Honestly, the mindsets of many people need to be reformed in today's society...too much negativity.

What matters in the end is if you are happy with yourself and who you are, who cares what anyone else thinks about you. It's your life, not theirs. We're all blessed for being transgender, we are special even if the world makes you feel burdened by rejection. Everyone is special in their own way though.
I'm my girly self awaiting the day i look like the girl i am through transitioning physically male-to-female in order to becoming more of what is kept inside me so that i feel complete and experience life truly as who i am so that i don't have any regrets.
