Two weeks post-op. All remaining bruising has disappeared. I just realized I forgot to take ibuprofen yesterday because I didn't feel the need. Swelling is about the same for the past half week - a bit more when waking up in morning, less swelling after time standing upright. At this point I expect remaining swelling to take several months to very gradually diminish, and as
Dena mentioned the nose typically takes a full year to form its new shape. One of the patients at Aldea said the facial swelling made her look like she had instantly gained weight - I suppose that's one way to describe it. This "weight" will go away.
The remaining things are minor inconveniences. I notice stitches inside mouth when I eat (those are self-dissolving) and carefully brush that area using the mouthwash and soft-bristle brush provided in Marbella. Sides of head are tender, only notice if I touch it - careful brushing hair. Forehead feels a bit odd when I touch it, I expect that for several months. I also feel some remaining stiffness around nose job, not worried - normal healing process. Bottom area of nose has remaining self-dissolving stitches, and inside nose requires careful cleaning but the main thing is I can now reliably breathe through my nose (I wasn't able to last week).
Last night was the first time I could have potentially slept on my side without too much pain from resting on side of head. I normally prefer to sleep on my side but made an effort to sleep on my back with an extra pillow to elevate head, and woke up that way - pretty sure I slept on my back. For this stage I think that's better to avoid potential asymmetry and help reduce swelling.
I am slowly getting used to new eyes and forehead. Not as startled when I see it but still makes me stop and smile, and momentarily forget what I was doing. Brain slowly adjusting to the new normal, although I know final facial shape is not fully visible as sharper bone shapes were replaced with temporary swelling over smooth bones. Jaw and nose require more time.
