Tonight I had lobster fried shrimp, egg drop soup, an eggroll and some jumbo fried shrimps. My dad brought Chinese food home. I totally love Chinese food but Chinese food is something I haven't been able to replicate at home. No matter what recipes I use it's just never the same as the food in a Chinese restaurant.
Mine isn't either. Usually it's better. Randi swears that she likes my sweet and sour chicken better than the restaurant's.

My eggrolls are really good. My family likes the Chinese food I make but for me most of it just isn't the same as the restaurant Chinese.  Maybe I need better recipes.

In my experience, it's really dish dependent. Fortunately, Sweet and Sour chicken is one of the more readily copyable ones because it's delicious. :D The hard recipes are those with ingredients it's just not practical to keep on hand like chinese spirits or random ultra specific rock sugar. I have gotten some of that kind of stuff from a local asian market that sells to restaurants, but it always goes bad before I can use even a 1/10th of it.

Eggrolls, wontons, etc. are pretty easy to replicate taste too, but way too work intensive. I love pot stickers, but dear god is folding each a pain.

I've never succeeded with egg rolls. I have some wrappers, maybe I'll try again tomorrow. If you want I can transcribe my sweet & sour recipe here. Nag me if it's not here within 24 hours.

I've used that book for years, it's pretty solid and simple and explains rarer ingredients.

I've never made potstickers before but I have made pierogies. Those are a pain to make. The German potato dumplings my dad loves so much are also kind of a pain to make.

Well, I put the lobster in a pot, I stirred up a package of mashed taters, and I put the shrimp in the oven.

I made it or what I reflected I did and my daughter and I had a nice meal together.

In a bit going to start cooking Philly Cheese Steak using a unique twist... Marinated in Hoisin sauce. I read about some Korean BBQ variations and opted to give it a try. I wanted to make some spicy cabbage to go with it, but the store had crappy cabbage in stock so I didn't buy it.

Good ingredients help make for a better result, that is for sure.

My partner made a roast courgette soup for supper and then we went to an exercise class. So far so healthy. Next we get home both hungry and go and buy a big portion of chips and battered sausages with mushy peas. Mmmmhmmmmm.
