Haircut Help And Styling Help

Alrighty so I'm transgender and the biggest thing I'm having an issue with involving passing is my haircut and styling it. I grew up with 3 older sisters so I don't know the first thing about male haircuts and styling them. I finally got my hair cut short for the first time a few months ago and it's just been growing out because I don't know what haircut to get and how to style it. I see a lot of haircuts I like but then I have no clue how to style them like them. I'll try and add a few pictures now of my current hair and the styles I like. I'm also closested only out to a few friends and one of my sisters and most are girls so don't know a lot about how to help me.

Things I'm worried about:

- I suffer from a condition known as seborrheic dermatitis which makes it look like I have a lot of dandruff and I'm worried cutting it really short especially on sides will show the condition off more

- How do I style the front like that are the ones that are short on the side but long on top?

- How do I get my hair to 'swoop' over the forehead like tha? I've tried with my current hair but some pieces just stick out awkwardly and are too short. Other pieces just flop down onto my forehead.

I think I'm going the other way and I never had a "do" like that as a male.  We have the same problem of not really knowing how to get our hair into a style we've never done before (but you have MUCH more to work with than I).  My wife has been some help but I know at some point I'm going to have to go to a salon and have someone style my hair and teach me how to do it myself.  There's got to be plenty of salons that could get the style you like today, so many cater to young guys and girls at the same time.  Took me forever to figure out a "messy bun"  which I really like.  Toni

I'm kind of in the same boat. I have found that any kind of long stuff on the sides and/or bangs generally makes people look more feminine. It's hard to get out of the rut of having feminine hair, even if it was recently cut. If your face shape is feminine, it's harder to make it look masculine.

My current style is short on the sides and the back and a bit of a side swiped mohawk (if that makes any sense?). People have told me that they think I pass better with it than I had before with it more of a Justin Bieber type.

Maybe attempt a style you think would be good even if it's really short and you aren't 100% sure about it? At least it's getting colder outside which means toques are more acceptable anywhere. If worst comes to worst, you could wear a hat for a week or two until it grows out a little bit.

Male style is simple. Just give it a short haircut, then don't mess with styling. Or let it go long and unkempt

Too neat and styled = female, and unless your face is big and square and you look menacing, you better not look neat.

Having said that, without testosterone, and hair pattern change, even GI Jane hairstyle was unquestionably female.

I had my hair cut into a very similar style. I just throw some mousse through it and scrunch it forward. Men's hair styles for the most part are no fuss, so don't make an issue out of it.
