So I had an account on here for a very long time, and I used my real name on the account. Which was a huge mistake.

Now people have started to find pictures and posts by me when I just started out transitioning and I'm having panic attacks and I'm crying and I don't know what to do. I deleted the account, but when I search my name on Google, it still shows the posts I made and pictures of me I posted.

Please please please can someone help me or advise me on what to do. Before more people find my posts.

Welcome back to Susan's Place. Unfortunately if you know how to dig deep enough on the web there will always be a trace but there is a way to fix this problem so normal searches won't uncover you. As you have deleted the account, the staff members are unable to help you but Susan can directly work with the data base and deal with the problem. Normally you would PM Susan but as you don't have enough posts, contact her at susan@susans.org . Include both account names, both email addresses and if you remember it, how many posts you had under the old account. Susan will contact you back with your options probably in about a day.

Things that you should read

Thank you very much Dena, I sent Susan a message. I feel like a total idiot for not just deleting the posts myself, but I really thought deleting the account would remove all the posts that I made. I also feel like a total idiot for using my real name. But that was way back when I first started transitioning

Is there perhaps any way to recover a deleted account and then I could delete the posts? Sigh.. Susan hasn't replied yet but I'm sure she will soon

We can change a users name but if you delete an account, the name on the post reverts to the original user name. Susan can reconstruct an account and has done it in the past. She can also link the old posts into your current account so they take on your current user name. You can always delete threads that you started but deleting post after 24 hours is something a staff member needs to do. We don't really like to remove a bunch of posts because if often leaves threads looking like Swiss cheese.

If the problem is only a few posts and you know where they are all located, we can clean it up. If it's a large number of posts, they are no longer linked so cleanup is difficult but Susan can reconstruct the links making it possible to locate all the posts.

It's always best to check with us before you attempt a cleanup. You are not the first to leave clues and we have had far to much experience getting accounts corrected when this happens.

Thank you so much for replying, Dena. I really appreciate it.

I had something like 150 posts about, I think. Most of them were comments in other people's posts.

I'm mainly worried about one particular post with loads of pictures of myself in it when I wanted to ask for advice on how my transition was going.

So if Susan could link those posts to this account, then if people searched my name it wouldn't show up anymore? That would already be a huge relief and a big help honestly. But if she could delete all the posts I'd be very happy

I know what you mean about the swiss cheese, I've seen that in posts before but I never thought I'd be someone who causes that to happen. So ideally if Susan could delete everything that would be great, but if she could just transfer all those posts to this account so it is under a different name and just delete the post with pictures of me in it, I would be incredibly grateful.

I have emailed Susan about a week ago but so far I haven't heard from her. I don't know if the email didn't go through or maybe she is very busy at the moment.

Thank you so much for trying to help me, Dena. It feels really good to know someone is trying to help me out of this situation.

Just one quick hint on Google: Google has it's own cache. That means that information remains searchable even if the source is deleted.
Unfortunately this means finding the Google results and request deletion of the search results from Google itself. Alternative is to wait, and some point they will disappear but it can be a while.

Pictures can be removed by removing them from the server you have them stored on. It may take a few days for them to be removed from some servers but they should stop being displayed on Susan's. In the mean time, I am flagging this thread so Susan will see it.

You can remove a lot of your information from Google.

Go to Google dashboard and see what is on the system about you and from there you can delete it or hide it. I can't recall exactly how to do it but there are instructions.

I sent an email last night, to "susan@susans.org" , is this email address correct? Or maybe my emails were going into a spam folder?

Thank you so much for helping me! I really really appreciate it! Do you think that they'll disappear from Google search after a while or should I ask Google to remove it from popping up when my name is Googled?

Again, thank you so so so much!
