Megan.

Turned up at the pathology unit at the local hospital to get my 6-month E/T levels. 2 people ahead of me in the queue is my estranged mother!
I have no idea if she's spotted me or not,  but I've not even seen her in the flesh for 2 years, this is totally freaking wierd!
She's sat 2m away from me as I type this...

Wow why are you estranged? I know it's none of my business but I have to ask

She had a son not a daughter, I am in her words "dead to her". Family rejection sucks.
I'm sat, my heart is pounding, this is horrible. [emoji853]

Sometimes they put people in the same room to take bloods... That would not be good!

Oh Megan, I'm sorry you had to experience that. So sorry, I don't know what to say but my heart goes out to you.

Made it out in one piece...just.

They walked me down a corridor towards a room that I could see my mum in,  but veered off at the last second! I was about 5bpm shy of a full panic attack. It's 0900 here and I need a drink!

Thanks all for the support,  I'll be ok now. X

Glad that's over! Yeah I'd be estranged from her too

Megan,. That stinks and I'm glad it worked out.

Remember, expect and plan for the worst. Hope for the best. The reality will be somewhere in the middle.

I might suggest that she did recognize you and was as anxietous as you.  If, as you say, you are dead to her, then she would treat you as a stranger and either a simple "hi" or ignore you.  If you live that close, someday you may pass in a store. Be prepared now with what you will do.

Remember you are not responsible for her emotions. Take the high road and treat her with kindness.  It might just drive her nuts.  ;)

I tried the kindness thing for more than 2 years,  I'm done with her tbh.

I'll spend no more energy on her. I've got better and certainly more satisfying things to focus my energy on.

Big hug, and big ugh! Glad it didn't turn into a public ordeal. Sorry you had to endure that.

I'm sorry to hear this Megan.  I consider you a sister and I feel family bonds should be permanent.  I'm done with your mum also.

you know how far the universe extends outward? i think i go inside just as deep.

10/11/18 - out to the whole world.  100% friends and family support.
11/6/17 - came out to sister, best day of my life
9/5/17 - formal diagnosis and stopping DIY in favor if prescribed HRT
6/18/17 - decided to stop fighting the trans beast, back on DIY.
Too many ups and downs, DIY, purges of self inbetween dates.
Age 10 - suppression and denial began
Age 8 - knew I was different

Ouch, that does sound like some bad timing.  Glad you two didn't have a face to face.  Hang in there.
