I honestly can't tell if soy has added any shape benefit. I have an average male shoulder/waist/hip ratio. I'm 5'10"

All I know is my wife tells me that from the back she can't tell that I'm 'a guy'. From the front is obvious since I'm boobless and my face gives it away.

like I said, no science. Since my target right now is loosing weight, seeing it show up where I want it isn't in the picture.
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

Well Faith, that puts your BMI just a little above middle of your perfect BMI.. You are about where I want to be, since I am the same hight as you.. Another -5kg and you will be perfect .. But the BMI scale is just a guild. The older you get the more flexible it can be.. So I think you you are on track.. Not so sure if the older you get its even possible to add some curves.. I am going to monitor. I really only want to loose some tummy and mid tire.. Its not much in my view but I have also seen some that loose wait, look awful since loosing weight can make the face look drawn so I need to be careful about that. My boobs since HRT are coming along great.. I think if I can loose the mid, the hips might look OK.. :)

I have no perfect suggestions really on how to develop curves.. Losing weight is the relatively easy part... But adding it to where you really want it, its a bit like no hair where you want it and hair where you do not want it.. Every body is different.. We are all different. What might work for one person, might network for others.. But we can still give our two cents worth in what worked or is working for us..

I had a couple of responses from Yasmine Petty last year on Facebook.. But she did not give away any of her secrets.
Looking at the pictures it appears her secret is a combination of silicone and photoshop.  There's nothing wrong with that for those that want it but others shouldn't be deceived as to what is and isn't possible naturally.

Yes, you might be right but I think Anastasia might be thinking about something a bit more subtle... Yasmine seems to have a very over exaggerated female form.. More in coming with the cartoon on her page.. Still looks very nice.. But.. if you notice, her feet, her arms her legs.. Just about everything suggest natural female. Some females can be born with male bits. She might not be a 100% natural transgender as we know it so therefore, just about impossible to look the same.. I admit she is very pretty but. A bit over done perhaps.. I still like her very much..

This is what I do and I love it!! I do one meal a day and it's the best! I get to absolutely stuff my self and full super full everyday andddd loose weight. It was hard at first,  and I've definitely built up to the 23 hour daily fast that I'm doing now I started with just skipping breakfast which is like a 16 hour fast. But yeah once my body got used to it and I stopped making the hunger hormone ghrelin at my old meal times it got easier and easier. Foods that spike my insulin (carbs and sugar) combined with like 5 small meals a day was miserable to me. I was always hungry, wasn't loosing weight, and didn't have even close to the engery and mental focus I do on intermittent fasting + Keto. I used to be into body building and played tennis in college as a guy so I've done way too much research on nutrition, body composition and how to manipulate it.

Do you drink coffee? I know they say, on an intermittent fast, that you can have all the coffee you want with just a splash of cream, but I was thinking, isn't coffee really suspended nano particles of a roasted legume?
I haven't lost anything on the sixteen hour fast and was thinking of just doing one hour for my meal as you suggest, but was thinking that maybe all the coffee, which i drink black mostly was effecting my results.
My therapist wants me to dress, but it makes me dysphoric because cloths just don't fit. They fit when I was 20 and 155 pounds though. Sigh, to live is to regret.

It's a diet approach that limits carbs and protein daily to minimize the effects on the body's insulin.  You will see many many posts state that you can eat as much fat as you want, but if you are trying to lose weight, you'll realize that calories still count.

Fat is important because it helps you feel full.  Don't try to add fat to your diet as so we do with fat bomb snacks or bulletproof coffees.  You'll find that just by limiting carbs and protein, you'll easily meet the fat limits.

I could spend pages telling more, but let Google be your friend.

There are Keto calculators out there for macros and I'd bet that just cutting carbs and protein is the way to go. It's more nuanced and is dependent on lbm, activity levels and rate of weight loss desired, to name a few. The hardest part for me was and is keeping carbs at 30g net per day or less. Eating enough fat comes in second. With my previous eating habits, I probably ate 100-120g of protein a day. Now I shoot for 165. It's not hard for me to do. When I was younger and lifted weights, I found the magic happened at about 1.25g of protein per pound of lbm. But that's lifting 6 days a week. It was difficult to keep up, but I could see the difference in muscle mass. Since having neck issues that limit what I can lift, it doesn't matter anymore. I miss being strong, but f it.

If you're not losing weight then the possible causes are too many calories (the most common reason, even when fasting); not enough sleep or too much stress both of which raise cortisol levels.  Coffee shouldn't effect weight unless you have some sort of physiological abnormality.

@ Deborah:  I agree wholeheartedly with you.   Her pictures "scream" FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.   Even if they are not fake, that is NOT what I would want my body to look like.

On an interesting (at least to me) aside... If anyone is struggling and has cash to burn, genetic testing may give some clues on an approach that works for people as individuals. In my recent adventures with it, I have done some reading on the genes related to weight loss and muscle building, and it's... well, anecdotally good as per individual testimonies, but the jury is still out on the reliability and usefulness statistically. I know in my case, everything that came up lined up exactly with what I had already figured out for myself, so was accurate. (Some of which I knew originally from family experience, so makes sense it would be visibly genetic.) Of course, there's always the chance it just shows a few superficial things such as "increased obesity risk" and doesn't provide a single clue to your body.

(Examples from my own.,, I had multiple "sprinter's" genes associated with muscle strength due to elevated proteins related to building muscle that is good for bursts of power over endurance. Which was 100% accurate. I have always fatigued easily long distance, but at school for instance I was consistently the fastest sprinter and able to more readily do "feats of strength" type weight lifting and what not. Also had genes associated with increased retention of fat. This also tracked, as my most effective dieting has always been the simple approach of cutting back on fat and going heavier on protein. Carbs don't seem to affect me much either way. Beef Jerky is my friend.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actinin_alpha_3 (the basic protein and gene info. there are some other related ones that are less general, but gives an idea.)

Where are the subtitles?

Aria.
In this world there is no honest peace
free from bitterness; pure and true (i.e. peace)
sweet Jesus, lies in Thee.

Amidst punishment and torment
lives the contented soul,
chaste love its only hope.

Recitative.
This world deceives the eye by surface charms,
but is corroded within by hidden wounds.
Let us flee him who smiles, shun him who follows us,
for by skilfully displaying its pleasures, this world
overwhelms us by deceit.

Aria.
The serpent's hiss conceals its venom,
as it uncoils itself
among blossoms and beauty.
But with a furtive touch of the lips,
a man maddened by love
will often kiss as if licking honey.

Alleluia.

My epiphany came the day after my first Polysomnagraph. I had a break down while watching the movie Trans. I told my wife what the trouble was and after her pledge of support experienced the most profound Euphoria. Maybe, you are correct in that the stress of not transitioning, as well as the increased oxygen at night from the BiPap machine, is holding back my weight loss, because before that I easily lost weight on a Ketogenic diet.
The weight loss had slowed down. It was never as quick as when I first started Atkins. But this is report by many people on the Atkins boards.
This also maybe, due to the trouble I have had with Statins giving me anxiety with LDL cholesterol levels below 65.
Anxiety is a problem for patients that present with Low Cholesterol.

Some of that stress you describe sounds like it might be beyond your immediate control.  If so, mindfulness meditation a couple of times a day will likely help to reduce the stress and also lower the cortisol.

Doctors switched me to Zetia and anxiety has decreased exponentially. I had stopped on my own without telling Doctors because no one would listen to me. When my cholesterol went up,I confessed and went back on Crestor, When the Cardiologist called me five days after my GP did, I told him I was going out of my mind and that I refused anymore statins(this was my third statin) and then he relented. I think they chase numbers for numbers sake.
Hematologist agreed my LDL was too low, Sleep apnea Doctor said," oh yeah thats right, that is too low. They don't listen to their patients.
I get skin burning with anxiety. GP mention skin itching with pre-diabetes, I said I can bring it on myself, when I go and read stuff at Susan's or look at women's fashion or Transpassing on >-bleeped-<.
I will try going back to TM and exercising more. Thank you for listening, i know this sounds rather convoluted.
I know I should go back to my therapist. I just don't feel the need to transition yet. Though that Transgender women who is breast feeding a baby really makes me happy.
(I don't care Buddha, I desire it.)

@ anatasia:  I noticed that one of your original questions and the subject line of your post "losing weight, adding curves" did not seem to get much coverage in the replies.  Basically, it is redistributed fat that makes the curves, and a proper diet.  Exercising along with a stringent low fat diet will in certains area like arms, legs, stomach will reduce the fat and gain masculine looking muscle.  This does not mean that a well proportioned feminine body does not have muscle either, their are plenty of women with nice curves that have abs and good arm and leg strength.  There are some trans-women on here that can probably outdo most men in strength.
Usually to get things going medically supervised HRT is needed.  Muscle loss is a result of HRT in most cases, it was for me but what I lost in body mass and muscle mass I gained in curves, hips, slimmer waist, and developing breasts.

Thank-you.  :)  I realize that HRT Is the only way to get the changes  really want, but that probably won't happen,  :-\ . I was looking/hoping for exercises that may help build muscle in the right place while diet takes off some of the unneeded fat.
As far as avoiding Testosterone poisoning, it is way to late. I will be 50 soon, and I'm fat and balding.
I had not thought about incorporating soy into my diet. I had a positive experience with soy in a different product a while back. There was a hair reducing lotion out that used a soy extract as its secret ingredient. I used it for about 2 years before it was pulled from the market. I went from shaving once, twice/day to about every 3 days. The effect lingered for years, so maybe I will be sensitive to the phytoestrogen effect of soy.
I know whether diet/exercise feminizes me or not, I will feel better and I won't have to shop the XL/XXL  section anymore! lol. Now, if I could lose the weight and keep the breast tissue that's there...
Enough procrastinating. I have a gym membership, time to make use of it. Actually, I made a similar post to this years and years ago as one of my first questions! Wait long enough, and history repeats itself.

Well.. I am 61 but not giving up.. I have lost 4.5 kg in the past 5 weeks, and it makes a big difference to my overall shape.. My boobs are still there so when I look down, I see them protruding but not my tummy so much.. Its nice.. Many real females are not so curvy as they might want to be so I am not that worried as long as I am slim'ish.. Being fat really kills any of my femininity. Some might be able to get away with it if the fat is in the right places. But for me, it is only around the middle. I need to loose another 6kg minimum. I love stretch jeans... They make me feel quite feminine with a nice tee shirt.. At my age, testosterone poisoning has done its evil deed so there is no going back on that.. If I had only started HRT before I turned 18, I feel I would be very feminine now.. I had beautiful long hair when I was young.. But everyone gets old.. and I have to make the best of what I have otherwise my emotions will consume me.. If I could ever afford to have some FFS, and my voice done, I feel I would be a brand new women with hope.. Its my face that lets me down.. But my skin is still quite nice.. In many ways, my legs are heaps better than most real women at 61.. So its not all bad.. There is a fine line to loosing weight and losing the plumpness in the face.. Its so easy to look drawn, which can make you look heaps older... I have been taking cologne capsule to try to help with this..
