losing weight, adding curves.

Ok, it's 12 years later (OMG) and I am in the same position, and no more educated. I have realized that I have gained all the weight back that I lost last time (change in diet, exercise) and am back to 210 from 165. I know how to lose the weight, I've done it before and I WILL do it again. It will be harder now that I am at 50 instead of <40.

What I would like to know is can I lose weight/exercise and keep/add feminine curves? I know there is no miracle answer or it would be in wide use. I'm not on hormones of any type, except the dang T that my body makes. What exercises are there that will focus on building muscle to accent any curve I may be left with? Most of what I see online tends to be adds to buy our product, be it herbals or what ever, but very seldom is there a meaningful review from a MTF.

Are there any dietary changes, be it get rid of or add lots of this to your diet?

I don't have a weight goal, just get rid of any unwanted body fat.

It was the camera that set me off last time, this time it was realizing I was at the top end of regular sizing for clothes that has set me off on this mission. (again).

I went on the ketogenic diet after talking to Deborah.  6 months later I am down 81 lbs. at least 60 to go. Works for me.

What's Keto?

It's a diet approach that limits carbs and protein daily to minimize the effects on the body's insulin.  You will see many many posts state that you can eat as much fat as you want, but if you are trying to lose weight, you'll realize that calories still count.

Fat is important because it helps you feel full.  Don't try to add fat to your diet as so we do with fat bomb snacks or bulletproof coffees.  You'll find that just by limiting carbs and protein, you'll easily meet the fat limits.

I could spend pages telling more, but let Google be your friend.

What really helped was understanding the relationship between insulin & carbs/sucrose and what the body does in the absence of nutrient intake.  The findings available on the interweb propose extensive health benefits ranging from increasing general health all the way to improving cancer treatments to even combating cancer directly.

Ok, 'nough said.  A soap box just tried to carry me away!

Thank you.  It's okay, I'll just take your soap box and use it at the Derby.

This is what I do and I love it!! I do one meal a day and it's the best! I get to absolutely stuff my self and full super full everyday andddd loose weight. It was hard at first,  and I've definitely built up to the 23 hour daily fast that I'm doing now I started with just skipping breakfast which is like a 16 hour fast. But yeah once my body got used to it and I stopped making the hunger hormone ghrelin at my old meal times it got easier and easier. Foods that spike my insulin (carbs and sugar) combined with like 5 small meals a day was miserable to me. I was always hungry, wasn't loosing weight, and didn't have even close to the engery and mental focus I do on intermittent fasting + Keto. I used to be into body building and played tennis in college as a guy so I've done way too much research on nutrition, body composition and how to manipulate it.

OOH, I did not see this post.. I have created one at BMI.

Few things I have researched about weight loss.. One that does work and that is Coconut oil capsules. I really do not know how but they do work.. I stopped taken them since I ran out and soon put some weight back on.. So I am back on them.. I have also read that eating lean red meet helps with weight loss.. Not so sure about that one. One thing is certain, bread is a killer. But I love bread. I cannot eat rice, since it bungs me up.. Paster is terrible for weight gain.. So I eat roasted chook and vegetables. Not much fruit since that has natural sugars. I stay away from all processed sugars.. Most unprocessed nuts are very good too.. Sesame seeds are supposed to be super food... I sprinkle them over other foods.. They taste nice too.. https://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/seed-and-nut/sesame-seeds.html

I have been reading about products with Bovine.. It supposed to help with breast development and adding to the butt size which in turn will help with adding curves.. I am still out on this. Also, any product with Soy.. Soy is supposed to be very good for breast and butt development. I am very tempted to buy some.. Soy milk would be good, but I do not like the taste... I need to find others who have tried this option for a long period of time....

I am sure there are heaps more options.. I really want my tummy gone, which is my goal.. I was doing OK at 78kg but bam, Christmas came and I am now 87kg. I lost 1 kg in three days.. I need to be 68kg to me mid range healthy BMI. So 19 more KG's to go.. :(

Courtney.lane408, its great that works for you but.. Breakfast is supposed to kickstart the bodies metabolism so it helps with weight loss.. To eat late at night is the wrong way to do it.. Have a healthy breakfast then a very light lunch in the evening.. I guess what ever works for you..

Two things. One, don't waste your money on weight loss products. Eat healthy foods with large amounts of micronutrients on a daily calorie deficit and you will loose weight it's that simple. Second, I would avoid soy if your on hrt. Yes soy does have  phytoestrogens and can be an okay option before hrt but not during. This is because those phytoestrogens, which are very weak compared to bio identical estrogens you get from hrt, compete with the more effective estrogen from your hrt for uptake in your estrogen receptors. You don't want to be clogging up your receptors so to speak with weak much less effective soy

This has been proven wrong many times. Check out studies on intermittent fasting if you don't believe me. Your metabolism runs in a linear relationship with your meal size. 5 small meals = 5 small metabolic boosts while digesting. One larger meal = one large metabolic spike. In the end there is a negligible difference in the metbalioc boost overall during the day when you take the sum total. The 5 small meals approach is old school and is outdated now. This is coming from the nutritional experts at Virginia tech who's jobs it is to make sure the athletes nutrients are optimal ( played tennis in college). I may not know much about being a girl or being trans lol, but this  is one thing I promise I know way way to much about. I almost almost decided to work as a nutritionist for my career.

@ anatasia:  I noticed that one of your original questions and the subject line of your post "losing weight, adding curves" did not seem to get much coverage in the replies.  Basically, it is redistributed fat that makes the curves, and a proper diet.  Exercising along with a stringent low fat diet will in certains area like arms, legs, stomach will reduce the fat and gain masculine looking muscle.  This does not mean that a well proportioned feminine body does not have muscle either, their are plenty of women with nice curves that have abs and good arm and leg strength.  There are some trans-women on here that can probably outdo most men in strength.
Usually to get things going medically supervised HRT is needed.  Muscle loss is a result of HRT in most cases, it was for me but what I lost in body mass and muscle mass I gained in curves, hips, slimmer waist, and developing breasts.

I have learnt that everything gets proven wrong in time. We are guided by the fad of the week... I eat a very small breakfast, if I do not eat something, I feel very weak all day.. I then have a very light and healthy dinner at night.. I might have a hard boiled egg mid day..

I agree about Soy.. I have never really felt that stuff to be the right way to go but I did try some a while back. It yuck.. But I would still like to hear from anyone who is using Soy for a long period of time and what the effect has been on their body.. For me, I will give it a miss. Stick with my HRT patches as you said. They seem to be working fine.. But I would still love to get some shape down below..

With weight loss.. Its seems to be so hard but very easy to put on.. I did not really think I was eating that much.. The older you get the harder it becomes..

I don't think there's anyone diet that works for everyone equally and I really don't think there will be. Lifestyle and general health and well being are so much more important than a fad diet.

It sounds cheesy, but listen to your body. Or have you always been overweight even as a young child? In that case you need to start to nourish your body with vegetables, balanced home cook meals and fruits. Don't be afraid of natural spices, a little of salt, pepper, green spices, red spices etc. I don't know if spices are known by colors, but you know what I mean. Add garlic and onion to jump start your metabolism and you get some nutrients so many of us are missing.

If you get cravings for ice cream don't punish yourself. Have some with strawberries or blueberries or opt for some frozen yogurt instead.

soy .. hmm ..

nothing scientific here.

I changed my diet, started walking (9000+ steps daily), and some simple stretches/exercises back in Oct.

Primarily a veggie diet, soy milk, soy powder drink, walking. I don't count calories specifically. I do look at the product and chose what has the lowest calories per serving. No red meats .. blech ... I do not drink the soy and/or powder every day, that'd be too much protein, I tend to drink it on the off days. For me it's seems good to have a rest day for your body to catch up to itself. I seem to drop more pounds if I take an exercise break.

one bowl of cereal for breakfast (it's either that or supplements), lunch is a salad, dinner is either another salad, a veggie burger or potatoes (I need the potassium). Tonight was a small dinner of ham and potatoes.

how does that add up?
I am now 165 down from 206-8
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

How tall are you Faith..??

You are the first person to that has said they use Soy. .. You seem to be benefiting by it.. Just not quite convinced about it. It really depends on the the who is making the comments and which website. Some swear by it other say no.. None of my girlfriends use it.. We are always talking about how to add those curves.. Do you feel Soy has helped with developing curves or helped in developing the butt and thigh areas..

I had a couple of responses from Yasmine Petty last year on Facebook.. But she did not give away any of her secrets. She thought my comments were funny. She is just amazing but I guess born at the right time to start HRT young and borne with a great bone and frame I guess helps... How she gets those curves is beyond me.. She is just great looking from top to toe.. But we can't all be Yasmine..
https://www.instagram.com/yasminepetty/?hl=en

One of my biggest issues wiht me is staring HRT very late in life.. Some transgenders who began very young I feel stand a much better chance of getting in before the male hormones kick in.. I call it my Testosterone poisoning. :( Starting young, should help with defining the female curves and fat distribution where its needed to accentuate curves..
