So, I'm just over three months on estrogen and t-blockers now and this is about the point that my doctor told me to expect fat redistribution to start (for some people at least) but I'm having a little trouble understanding what that means, exactly. From what I understand, hrt doesn't actually "redistribute" the fat that you already have, but just sends new fat to more feminine places like the lower back of the face, hips, legs, etc. The thing that I've been hearing around though is that a lot of women will diet hardcore before hrt and then gain a lot of weight back once they hit the 3-4 month mark so that it can form and more feminine figure and I...didn't do that... :-\

I mean I've always been pretty skinny, like not scarily underweight or anything, but significant enough that people have commented a lot. I've been thinking about just starting to gain weight now and see what happens, but at the same time I'm wondering if I should spend another month or two losing a bit more weight before I do that or if just gaining more weight from here will slowly phase out my masculine fat.

Honestly, don't overthink it. Just let your body do what it does, fighting it can cause pr Bless.

From what I understand fat cells in the area where it goes in males need to age and die before it won't come back in that area as readily.  In the predominantly female areas fat is distributed in new cells.  At least something to that effect.
I know for certain at the 5 month mark, the creases in my cheeks are filling in and softened.  My hips have gain an inch.  I have always been of average build .  Never extra skinny or heavy.  I didn't lose any weight beforehand.

Fat doesnt move around, new fat just goes to new places. mI was pretty skinny before hrt and have gained about 35 pounds.  It went to my butt, thighs, boobs, lower stomach, hips, and face.  My waist hasn't shrunk but the measurement is the same from when it started.

It can move around some. I had a small gut before I restarted HRT and much of that is gone but not all of it. If you are in a healthy weight range, work on maintaining your current weight. HRT may cause you to gain a few pounds over time. In my case, it was about 20 pounds over the period of several years. As long as your weight gain isn't excessive, let your body tell you what it needs.
