This is a really rough rehearsal cut of Living in the L of a song which I think will be the title cut of my new CD. (my first as a female) The L the Tenderloin, I think the song is one of the best I ever wrote, I will still need to write a few more songs to fill out the CD, I wull probably re-work a couple public domain  blues songs but everything will be original.

This is the last song I wrote while in the throes of addiction and depression. I need to work on the guitar parts, there is a lot of potnetial there, the one person who heard it says it sounds like Pink Floyd.

BTW the pic has nothing to do with the song, it is just one of my best photo works.

The other song Paradise I started writing a few weeks ago, I only have two verses, I need a bridge.

Has anybody seen the bridge?  Where's that confounded bridge?

As someone who works on Taylor 'tween market and turk, we always call it the TL, but art for art's sake, money for god's sake.  As we say, after a day of work, we always go home feeling pretty good about our lives, no matter how bad they are.

Bridges are easy to write as they contain a different thought and veer from the melody, you have a lot of leeway thre (learned thatfrom Nashville writers)The L is hip-=hop terminology I suppose/

That's what I mean, its the homeboys who call it "The TL."  But perhaps "The TL" can just be cut to "L".  Great neighborhood, in the years I've worked there I've seen two fatal shootings and one fatal stabbing - all three as me and the crew watched.  The rest of the stuff kind of pales in comparison to that.   Funny, at that point in my life I thought I had seen it all.  Turned out, I had not seen anything.

Lat night I sang a set at Octavia then across the street at Martuni'
s (My jazz stuff) I sang Summertime at Martuni's and you coulda heard a pin drop, which is very rare for Martuni's. I think I was channeling  Janis Joplin Thanks, Pearl

Well that is right down in the area where Haight drops into Market, so who knows, Janis' ghost might still be wandering around there - as she was known to do in the day.  And anything that can get Martuni's quiet is something.  I always found it to be way too much noise for me (but my life is full of the big hum racket, so I prefer dead quiet most of the time) there, so props to you.

I was really shocked, quite frankly. I feel Janis all the time but last night it was like I became possessed, I wish I could get a performance like that in my home studio but I would wind up getting evicted.

Which, of course, is why they make real studios, and studio space, there is one on turk right next to Uncle Charlies, I know several bands that work in there.  Keep posting your dates, I might make it to one sometime.
