It is supposedly to help prevent clotting disorders post surgery. It is bull but still insisted on by most surgeons doing any work on TG clients.

Oh and I had my larynx removed, which included separation of the jugular without going off HRT. the surgeon couldn't think of any reason to take me off it.

Thanks cindy , hell thats some procedure !
I know that my hemocrit was already high up about the max level for males due to my male.hrt therapy i might go get some bloods done  to see where it is now
as an aside i take lexapro and weaned myself off alpralosam ( though i still keep some.for emergencys)
but it is estrogen that calmed my anxiety made me feel okay .....strange...but true
Oh and i dont know if it is psycho somatic but i idid take a double dose and felt much better the next day

Well with the HRT we are more prone to bleed out more and sometimes don't clot as well. So it is for your safety they want to insure that your body does as it should and they don't have to fight it. I know it might be discomforting but, just a precaution.

Ah ok thanks .... My blood was afew months ago very thick in fact one of my blood tests coagulated before it got to the lab apparently so should be okay on the bleeding out part

It's pretty common to go off your meds in my experience.  I had to hit pause for knee and ankle surgery.  It sucks on that second week,  but it's a small inconvenience.  In 2 weeks you're not really going to revert, but those menopausal symptoms are a pain.
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

When I had GCS, I was told to remain off hormones a month before surgery stay off until a month after surgery by my endo. The surgeon wasn't as strict with the restart time and would have let me resume hormones sooner. I figured it was better to be safe than sorry so I remained off hormones for the full month after surgery.

The primary problems is clots can form in your body if you are inactive. The have occurred in people during long flights and that's why they recommend if you are on a long flight, you get up and move around during the flight. Now they have compression leggings that help but it's desirable to reduce the risk as much as possible. There is also another possible problem and that is some surgeons may not use compression leggings raising the risk.

Do clots happened all the time - no. It was normal for us to remain in bed 6 days after surgery and clots were not very common but they did happen occasionally. If you are likely to form clots, I would recommend that you follow the doctors recommendations.

I stopped 2 months before, just to 'make sure' lol..then a month after for a baseline level.  Turns out its the same as it was 20 years ago.  No mental anguish involved... honestly we tear ourselves (as mere mortals) down more than anyone else does

For FFS I was told 2 weeks before and when my plane landed 6 days later. GCS was 4 weeks before and 2 weeks after. I was able to stay on spironolactone until 2 days before GCS, no need after :)

BA, hair transplants and VFS I was able to stay on E.

Good luck with your FFS.
