Contouring. add a little highlighter to the tip of your nose, and some light bronzer to the sides of your nose. Then blend. Jaw you can do similar. Add a highlight to the tip of your chin, and shade the very bottom edge of your jawline on either side. Brighter lipstick will draw the eye to your lips. You can do either your lips or your eyes bright. Bright red lips means muted eye shadows. Bright eyeshadows mean nude lip colors. And always groom your brows.
I prefer brushes to sponges for makeup application. I think they blend better and give you good coverage without getting that caked on feeling. More of an airbrushed look. Less is more when it comes to makeup... You want full coverage, but you don't want it heavy. Mac and Loreal have very full coverage, and they work well early on in transition when you're covering up your pores. Those will shrink with the hormones, and you can branch out to other brands with lighter coverage.
Benefit has Pore-fessional - a pore shrinking cream. That works quite well. Mac has a liquid highlighter pen that is a little orange. It works under your foundation to get rid of beard shadow and razor burn. It also feels quite sheer. Don't be tempted to try it under your eyes though. it'll crack and show off some crazy crows feet for no reason. Regular concealer works just fine for the under eye. Dark bags I like Benefit's Boing concealer. It goes on easy like eye primer. Wonderful stuff and it lasts forever.
If you're in need of makeup, you can usually get a free lesson for about $60 in product from the Mac counter. Which is easy to spend. You can kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak. There are also some aestheticians that will give lessons for $40 or 50. It'll go on for an hour.
Another thing you can look at is how you wear your hair. Your hair can soften or make your face look more rigid. Depending on how you wear it.
I admittedly have never broken my nose. But I have been in 10 motorcycle accidents over the years and have plenty of scars on my face. Asphault at 50 will leave an impression. I have scars from road rash, steel pipes, bottles, peoples teeth... you name it. Properly applied makeup can fix most of it... I have no doubt that you can shade the bridge of your nose to slim it down.
