HRT interaction with eyedrops?

Hey everybody. I just started on my regimen of spiro and estradiol--tomorrow is my fifth day! Wooo! But I have an ophthalmology appointment tomorrow morning. I'm worried because I've been starting to get headaches recently, and especially since I started on HRT. Maybe I'm getting headaches as a result of HRT, but I also have a history of uveitis. When I do have eye problems, it's usually treated with medication like prednisolone by eyedrop along with a whole bunch of others like brimonidine, timolol, and dorzolamide. If I end up needing to treat uveitis again, am I going to have an issue with drug interaction? I intend to ask my doctor for HRT if there is any actual interaction, but I want to figure out what answer I should be expecting.

I think there may be interactions with spironolactone, but you should be fine to have oestradiol. There are alternative anti-androgens you can take instead of spiro. You might find the doctor considers those interactions to be manageable anyway.

Also, the headaches may be related to spiro's blood pressure lowering effect.

Usually headaches that start with spiro are a result of dehydration as spiro is a powerful diuretic. Try increasing your water and salt intake a lot and it may solve the problem.

A quick check with a drug interaction site shows that the Spironolactone may interact with the Timolol, Brimonidine or Dorzolamide by causing headache, dizziness, light headedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart beat because of cardiac side effects if these ophthalmics get absorbed into the blood system.

Be sure to tell your Ophthalmologist all the meds you are now taking.

Hi! Wow! Ive just found something eve  rarer than a trans person..... someone with uvitus ! I would be interestrd in knowing this also. Been on pred tabs for 20 years as well as other stuff. Either maxidex or pred forte for drops. Ever since reasising who i was ive been trying to bring my tablets down. I know my body is addicted to them but i dont want anyone to say sorry you cant do hrt as your on these and its going to take a year to get off them safly if you can get off them at all

So a little update for y'all. I went to my ophthalmology appointment today and I do have some inflammation that needs to be treated. I will probably end up on eyedrops again. But I'm not yet in eyedrops. They sent me to a different specialist for a second opinion. So I have about a week to get in communication with my HRT doctor and see if I can switch to an alternative anti-androgen. One step back, two steps forward?
