Today has been three years to the day since I came out as trans! I remember it like it was yesterday, and I still remember the song that was playing in the background - Some Boys by Death Cab for Cutie, which was oddly fitting :p
I celebrated it with cake and Chinese food, as it's my third birthday so cake is totally necessary  ;D
How do y'all keep note of the day you came out, or the day you became full time? It's a very important day for me personally, so I'd love to hear about what it means to other people.

I came out 100 times to 100 different people.  The first, 10/16/15, second 11/2/15 then the floodgates opened.

Work 2/20/17, Public was 9:00pm 3/2/17.

I think I'll celebrate quietly on 3/2

I celebrate on the day I legally changed my name, all though by that time, the only one who learned anything new about me was the judge.

The day has little meaning to me. I won't do anything about remembering or celebrating it. I'm more interested in the journey than any particular dates.
Every day is a totally awesome day
Every day provides opportunities and challenges
Every challenge leads to an opportunity
Every fear faced leads to one more strength
Every strength leads to greater success
Success leads to self esteem
Self Esteem leads to happiness.
Cherish every day.

It was Christmas, so that's easy to remember.

I don't remember the day, or the conversations specifically. It wasn't a big deal for me.

I've always considered myself full time, really. There was pretty much no point I thought of myself as not who I was. There was just a point at which I decided to buy and wear the clothes I wanted to, etc. (pretty much once old enough to buy my own things). But I don't remember those either. It was a long time ago.

Hi, Alison!

Welcome To Susan's Place!

Many of us have changed the sort so jobs we have had over the years.  One key to doing this is to have the sort of skills needed for the job you want, or a minimal set of appropriate skills, and the enthusiasm to make the employer want to train you for the position.

You've worked as a stock clerk in shipping and receiving, so you have some familiarity with processing paperwork and possibly managing inventory.  Those are skills that translate well to some sorts of office work.  Offices also often require some familiarity with computers and word processing of some sort, and perhaps you have a little of that with hobbies, home use, school or even your older job.  Write up the skills you have and compare them to what is listed for a particular job opening.  If you have a good portion of them, you may find an employer will be willing to train you a bit.

Often job transfers within the same business are easier than being hired from outside, so you might be able to move from the warehouse to the office within the same business more easily, especially if you have a good work history in the warehouse.

It's worth a try.

You might want to to hop on over to the Introductions Thread and create a post to tell us a little bit more about yourself so we can get to know you a little better and greet you properly.

A post there is likely to get you more and better responses than a post attached to someone else's discussion thread.

I've added some links and information below that can help you get more out of our site. Please take time to become familiar with them especially the RED one as we are always getting questions that are answered there.
