Therapy options

How do you pick a therapist when there are no specialized gender therapists within reasonable traveling distance? Is there a consult visit/phone call before you schedule sessions? If so, are there certain questions I should ask to determine if a therapist would be a good fit? Or is it basically trial and error until you find one that supports you?

1. Are you comfortable working with a transgender person?
2. How many transgender patients have you worked with.
3. Do you take my insurance....
