Look close enough, and you'll see normal never really exists, it's a myth. X

Normal is a town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town's population was 52,497.[4] Normal is the smaller of two principal municipalities of the Bloomington–Normal metropolitan area, and Illinois' seventh most populous community outside the Chicago metropolitan area. Normal's mayor is Chris Koos.

The main campus of Illinois' oldest public university, Illinois State University, a fully accredited four-year institution, is in Normal, as is Heartland Community College, a fully accredited two-year institution. There is also a satellite campus of Lincoln College, which offers associate degrees as well as four-year programs.

NORMal is someone who acts according to the norm, the stereotype of perfect citizen that a society has. In my society for example, a normal person is someone that has finished secondary school, is going/has been to university and has at least an important title and has a stable job. To be normal you have to listen to certain genres of music and dress with a certain fashion. You're probably made fun of if you dress differently. It shocks me how every young person that goes to a club dresses exactly the same as the others, they look like clones.

But they are normal, that's everything that matters And they are considered to have "succesfull lives" because they have a nice job, have nice clothes and a family. It doesn't really matter if that makes you happy, you have a successful life and you should be happy because of it.

Based on your description I should have been Normal all my life. I graduated high school, went to college for three years. Earned three times minimum wage in my first job. Spent 20 years helping manage a billion dollar company, then was hired to a 94.5 billion dollar company for 15 years. I have a wife of 35 years, own my own home, and we have 2 children and one grandchild.  But underneath it all was confusion as to whom I actually was. Now I know and the good thing is that my family acknowledges it's a good thing.

The statistically average or majority.

If trans people are est. 1% or so of the world population they are not 'average' or 'normal'. The semantics of the word is unfortunate as not being normal insinuates "abnormal", but this isn't how I read it since 1% of all people is still a huge number and there's evidence to suggest trans people have been present through human history. In which case they've arisen consistently in small numbers and therefore "naturally".

Oh I assure you I was not normal. I didn't speak until absolutely necessary. I've destroyed many friendly relationships because of this. It wasn't because people weren't offering. I didn't know how to feel like the authentic me. I would go home and put on a dress and some makeup and the day to day misery of being a man vanished for a few hours. I was so afraid someone would find out. At the time there were no allies.  Transgender meant Transvestite. Transvestite mean sex worker. Sex worker meant someone to assault. As bad as it is now. It was worse back then.

Hi Gerti!  For what? ??

Normal can be what most people do or are or normal can be a range of possibilities within a group or category.

You all are just amazing. Epic Young Frankenstein reference.

To me, normal means that person is someone that refused to stray from what society wants them to be. Think of the movie Equilibrium, the idea of a "utopian" world devoid of any emotion, where black is the only accepted color. That would be a "normal" person to me. I've only met a handful of normal people ever, and that personally makes me happy. Because to me, they are strange.

By the way, I'm so far from normal that a Platypus would call me weird.

Fun fact: Platypuses are venomous and their toxin is immune to the effects of morphine. How's that for normal! ;D

It is always safe to assume that everything in Australia will attempt to murder you in proportion to its cuteness.

That's the truth. I think kangaroos are totally adorable but Tristan told me they are really mean animals. And he told me those adorable koala bears are totally vicious and would shred you with their claws. Then he told me about these huge evil spiders they have there that routinely go into peoples homes and their bite can kill you if you don't get treatment right away. Note to self....Never visit Australia!

I believe if you don't stand out, if you don't get strange looks, if you don't do anything very unique with your life, if you follow popular routeing, then you are considered normal.

What determines if you do stand out, if you get the looks, if you have done something unique, or if you follow a different path is determined by the society you live in.
