Women's Fashion Choices

Can we just talk for a minute about how good women have it compared to men in regards to fashion.  The options are virtually endless (style, color, material, etc.)  Clothing choices as a man are so dull and boring.  I'm so happy that I have been inching closer to becoming a minor fashionista.

What do the other ladies here love about women's fashion?

With Love,

I have said for years that women are lucky in that they can wear so many different fashions.  Women can go completely functional with jeans and sweat shirt or they can go high fashion or in between.

That said, trying to be appropriate in the fashion is a challenge.  As an older person they style of staying appropriate yet attractive and not look like an old person is a definite challenge.  Looking at the clothing in the magazines is often disheartening.  My body will never look good in much of what it showcased.  I love it though.  I am still figuring out what my style will be; probably aging hippie with long skirts and peasant blouses.

Now the negative.  Women's clothing is so expensive.  Getting it at thrift stores helps but —women's clothing is expensive.

Without a doubt it is better. More choices, more discounting because of that, vast fast fashion stores like H&M (the men's side is not as good but ok), and wider ranges and categories of fashion.

My opinion is wear what makes you feel comfortable and what you like to look at in the mirror in the morning. Also settle on your style and then have as much variety within that style as your budget and closet space allows.

I think most people can comfortably dress one tier below their age group without too much negative attention. A woman in her late 40s could easily wear what women in their 30s wear etc. Flattering your own body shape is also a challenge but there is a lot of advice on dressing for various shapes out there.

I think at times when your confidence is just building the tendency is to buy loose flowing clothing, but that can actually draw more attention. I've heard it a few times from fashion blogs etc. Wear things just a bit more form fitting than you are comfortable with. If you look at well dressed women of all ages, it tends to be the case.

Still, you gotta be comfortable so default to what that is :)

When it comes to boy clothes I could wear the same shirt, pants and shoes every day, I don't care.

However, I love just about everything about women's fashion.

I love dresses with frills, buttons, zippers, and ruffles.

I love leggings with stripes.

I love boots with lots of zippers.

When I can finally wear cute panties that fit after SRS I'm gonna spend a million dollars on a variety of underwear so I can wear something different every day to try and make up for lost time.

I could spend hours writing about all the great options in women's apparel I have to look forward to.

I was thinking a bit about this matter this week, as I got rid of the last of my male clothing.

The range of options is nice to have but can also be overwhelming at times too!  I doubt I'll ever be anything close to a fashionista, but it's definitely great to have choices.

But, isn't it funny that the flattering clothes are almost all Junior Miss sizes? That's a bit disheartening.

I just can't stop looking at the endless and wonderful items. Men's cloths are disgusting by comparison.
I have frills and lace and soft and bright and colourful and the list goes on forever. And shoes, I had two pair of men's work shoes. I own one pair of male dress shoes and only wear them for weddings and funerals. Now I have fancy shoes and heels and sneakers and sandals and I can wear them anytime with anything for no more reason than I want to.
It is a wonderful new world

I was definitely a newborn in this department, and still very much new to the whole thing. I totally agree with much being said here, and especially with Noelle and Sammy!

Men clothes just aren't designed to be seen, they're more function over form, I feel.  Sometimes they can definitely be stylish, but that doesn't even compare to the sheer vastness of women's fashion.

I wouldn't even say I know anything about fashion, or that I'm making the right choices, but I just try to think about what I feel looks good on me.

I had worn 1 outfit before, bought components to make another but today my wife and I went down to a thrift store and tried on all sorts of shirts, blouses, dresses, leggings, pants, capris, etc.  And now I have a pretty decent-sized wardrobe to choose from, that...I don't know what to wear tomorrow (lol)

Since clothing for men is more designed for function over form, it really doesn't matter- and it's totally natural and expected to just grab whatever and be done with it.  But like with women's clothes, I feel like what I'm doing, who I'm seeing that day, how I feel or how I want to feel, the area, my age bracket, and like anything else you can think of really come into play.  It is truly overwhelming!

And like I said, I might not have a good eye for fashion, but as long as you feel good and look good in it, that's all that ultimately matters!
Looking to make and keep friends! Spreading the love, now that I can truly love myself!

Yes. Variety is a distinct feature of women's fashion.

Although I am over 50s, I like wearing clothes for teens or 20s. Almost all fashion items I keep are for 20s or less (even for little girls). I prefer cheap and simple ones, especially those can expose my body more in summer. I sometimes order the clothes of the same design but with different colors.

One drawback is my colleagues sometimes comment that my skirts are too short, considering my age. But usually I ignore their advice.

You look fantastic. I'm always being reminded to dress age appropriate but I do love to rebel every now and then. Lol

Barbie, you have the body to show, so no need to dress like a granny  ;D

I wear also what I like, not what other women of my age group wear, because that would then be shell suit  ;D

Also, my friend said, that I can be everyday, like I would be going to a ballroom dance or a party, because the people on the street, don´t know that I´m actually just going out to get coffee  :D

Everything!

Clothing was a major dysphoria trigger for me.  When presenting as a man, I used to wear the same thing all the time: T-shirt and jeans.  I used to self-censor when buying clothes: "Nice shirt, but too colourful.  People will think I am gay", which morphed into "People will guess that I'm trans" as I became more aware.

Now, I can wear colours, the brighter the better.  I can coordinate colours.  (Everything dull coordinated with denim.)  I can wear swishy skirts, the swishier the better.  (No swish allowed in men's clothing.)

I do make a small effort to be age-appropriate.  So I don't wear skirts that are high above the knee.  (I don't have Barbie's legs: she makes it work!)  But anything from two inches above the knee down is fair game.  I am not a big fan of pencil skirts: no swish.

In cool weather, I like skinny jeans.  Turns out anything bright also coordinates with denim.  :)

Thans for your kind compliments. Yes. We have a right to wear whatever we want to wear.

A trend here is that most women wear skinny jeans, and fewer women wear skirt. Even fewer young girls wear miniskirt. Because of this, wearing miniskirt alone attracts attention.

Yesterday night when I was wearing the sky-colour cheergirl skirt in the first photo, I could hear one guy in the store comment that I look like a foreigner. Many men watch me, and even undergraduate students do so at my university. I avoid too short skirts at class room, but I sometimes wear miniskirt there, too, especially in hot summer.

I seldome wear jeans, because of some hygienic problem in my butts.

I also prefer thigh-high stockings or open-crotch fishnets to panty stockings in spring and fall. So many types and colors of women's hosiery. The most comfortable hosiery product to me is fishnet. It wams my legs a little bit, but no problem in athletics foot.

Surprisingly, people did not pay attention to my fishnets with garter belt.
