Hi Everyone, i'm new to Susan's Place forums and this is my very first thread, so please bear with me >.<

So i've recently started HRT about a month ago (2nd of February), i was prescribed with Progynova and Cyproterone Acetate. After a week or two since starting HRT, i began to recognize that i was losing a huge amount of hair everyday, and especially every time i take showers, the amount of hair fall i experience is so much. This has made me so scared and anxious about my situation. I'm not really sure if this is a normal process or not. What's worrying me more is that i'm noticing that my hairline especially on my temples are seemingly thinning and i could somewhat recognize this too around my crown.

I live in Sydney, Australia, I'm only 21 years old and i'm so scared about this issue. If anyone could enlighten me of informations that i may not know about my situation, please do so and thank you in advance.

I'm so scareddddd to the point i even have thoughts of stopping my HRT journey.... and i really don'y want that :'(

My Endo/Doctor also mentioned if i want Finasteride to be included in my HRT regimen, although she said that it wouldn't have much effect. She also said that i could reduce my Androcur

THANK YOU!! and i'm sorry for the long thread >.< sooooo scareeeeed

Hi Surreal,

I'm Cindy the Forum Admin and I live in Adelaide. There are lots of Aussies here. I will have to modify your post to remove dosages as they are not allowed here. Someone will be around to post a link to the rules soon.

Firstly just follow your medics advice. HRT is not a quick thing it takes years to have full effects and it is a steady as it goes situation.

Don't panic just follow your medics advice.

Hey and welcome!!

Hi, I'm from Sydney too. If you're not seeing the endo Dr Hayes I'd recommend seeing him instead of a GP. He's got thousands of trans patients and knows more than anyone else here.

Hello Surreal, welcome to Susan's!

I am MtF from Seattle, greatly enjoyed visiting Sydney - awesome city.

And a big hug.  I'm sorry to hear about hair loss... I'll move this thread to the HRT Forum in case we might gain additional eyes there.

When you get a chance, if you can introduce yourself in the Introductions Forum that would be awesome.

We like to provide a set of links and guidelines to all new members - to help with initial navigation, and to cover rules that are unique to Susan's.

Things that you should read

Surreal, really great to see you here!

Sometimes, hair falls out due to hormonal changes, like following pregnancy. Considering Progynova is estradiol (valerate) and prolongs hair growth and that cyproterone acetate blocks DHT responsible for hair loss, you are covered! No worries. Stress can also bring this on and any kind of major change in our lives, even positive, may trigger short-term stress. Soooo, just relax for now, wait things out and if the issue persists, go see your doctor and talk to them about it.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience
