Hello everyone i am new to this and would really like some opinions....I've been on hormones since I was 15 years old I am now 29 and recently I have been having breast and nipple pain in the left and right breast it's been going on for a few months now it seems to be like sharp pains and sometimes my breast are tender the pains happen randomly more on thrower breast part and sensitive nipples I've always had sensitive nipples but now they can be painful I went to my doctor he gave me a breast exam he didn't feel anything he hasn't taken blood work for me in about a year and he thinks it might be a progesterone withdrawal I did have to confess that I am not always consistent with taking my hormones everyday and recently it has gotten worse I will go though days without taking them sometimes maybe even a week or two not usually longer than that so I'm wondering could being inconsistent with my meds be causing these pains I have no idea what could happen when you're not regular with your meds I know I should take them every day and most of the time I am good on my pills but lately I haven't please provide some kind on insight  thank you i am a M2F

Hi Sweetpea,
I'm a few years older than you and also have a disease that if I were a ciswoman would put me up to an 80% lifetime risk of breast cancer, so I've read every bit of the scant data I can about breast health (cancer and other) for transwomen. Being related to coming off progesterone is very plausible. Cisgender women get this too with hormone variations caused by cycling and pregnancy. But the net of risk data is you can count on nothing. The consensus is after about five years of hormones, do the same as a similarly aged ciswoman and have any change checked. Glad to hear you already saw the doc. S/he may have to rely on First Principles reasoning and may need encouragement to work with you the same as other women. A sad reality of our lives. At your age, really bad things are not common unless you have risk factors. But insist your doc not discount risks because your trans. While you're at it, get breast health history from your family and take it to your doctor on your next visit. Hope that helps.
