So do any Aussie trans guys have any experience with the airport security system? all the resources I've found are for America so I thought it best to ask. I'll give some details, I'll be binding, my name/id/gender marker hasn't been changed, I'm pre-t, a minor and I'll be travelling within the country. Do you guys know of any challenges/disruptions I might have to deal with from staff or protocol? I've heard something in america about that button thing where they pick what gender you are to check for anomalies? Is that true for Australia?

I'm Australian, mtf, present male and have breasts. My breasts always get picked up by the scanners at the airport and I get a patdown. I tell them I'm trans and it's always been very professional. I've never had any problems.

I'm also am Aussie mtf but I have organised TG conferences and attended LGBTIQA conferences around Australia. One thing that I have never heard of is any hassles by airport security etc for being TG or in peoples' presentation in any way.

It doesn't seem to be an issue in Ausland. Now carrying a pair of nail scissors that couldn't cut through a piece of paper, that is another issue!!

No seriously, airport security have always been very respectful and professional as have all of the airline staff I have encountered.

The golden rule is being polite and everyone is polite back to you.
