Does HRT Really Make You Look Younger?

We all know the reason for taking HRT but could it be that there may be an added bonus?

My experience both inside and outside Susans is that in many cases long term HRT may make you look younger. Do you agree or is this just wishful thinking on my (or some others') behalf please?

Thanking you

Pamela

It does alter the way you look with fat moving around. With me loosing the face hair and 65 pounds and a softening of the face have made a big change. Don't know how much younger I look but I feel younger.
December 2015 noticed strange feelings moving in
December 2016 started to understand what my body has been telling me all my life, started wearing a bra for comfort full time
Spiro and dutastricide 2017
Mid year 2017 Started dressing and going out shopping etc by myself
October T 14.8 / 456
Came out to my wife in December 2017
January 2018 dressing androgenes and still have face hair
Feb 2018 Dressing full time in female clothing out at work and to friends and family, clean shaven and make up
Living full time March 1 2018
March T 7.4 / 236
April 19th eligard injection, no more Testosterone
June 19th a brand new freshly trained HRT and transgender care doctor for me. Only a one day waiting list to become her patient 😍

Yes, the redistribution of fat and the softening of the skin combine to take several years off your appearance.

I have had my ID rejected because the bank teller didn't believe that I looked the age that came up on my file.  I should have asked her how old she thought I was.  She was very apologetic, but it totally made my day.

There are a lot of posts where people claim that HRT made their hip bones grow wider when they are well past the age when bones stop growing, or that their feet shrank a few sizes (I would tend to believe that claim if the person was overweight when they started HRT, and then lost weight); and I even read a post where someone claimed that they lost several inches in height, and they were only in their late 20s to early 30s (the only logical explanation I can think of was that they were standing with an exaggerated pelvic tilt), but the claim that HRT can make us look younger is indeed true; I've experienced it and I have seen it happen with a lot of other trans women as well.

By looking younger do you mean that HRT will remove some of the wrinkles that come with aging?
This would be great news to me but, I am pretty sure that I will need a facelift and brow lift.
I look older in person than in my pictures.

I'm speaking of the general appearance along with smoothing out some fine lines, but probably not as effective for deep wrinkles. And I always go with my instincts, if I feel that I need something, then I do.

For me it did remove some wrinkles.  However, at the same time I quit smoking, quit drinking, cleaned up my diet, last weight, restarted exercising, and started taking some care of my skin.  So probably all of those things have worked synergistically to change my appearance.

Thank you. I am with you on the instincts. :) I will give the HRT time to see what happens but I know I will
have some surgeries later and that's fine with me.

Thank you Deborah. Good thing I started that over two years ago. I never smoked in my life and never really liked alcohol that much. I didn't take care of my self all through my 20's and was completely out of shape. Now I feel like I'm going in the right direction. :)

I'm 60 & look early 40s. People thought I started looking younger soon after starting HRT as I grew my hair out from a DA & had electrolysis

It really depends on how old you are.

I am 68 and many people say I look late 40's or early 50's.

Full disclosure; I also had a face lift with my FFS. The HRT and a face lift together really took the years off.

My sister said I look younger. So it must be true... but I also don't drink, and never smoked. I'm 27, even as a "guy" some people thought I looked early 20s. If I lose some weight I might even look younger still. But with hrt I get very hungry

I've been on low dose E for almost 2 years.  I've had countless people tell me how young I look for my age.  I'm 55 many think I'm in my early 40s.  My skin is definitely softer, my pores in my face are much smaller.  I think some of my fat has redistributed to my butt and breasts, so I look very slim compare to most men my age.   I've been called skinny many times in the last year.  My hair has come back a bit too.   It has definitely worked for me. :)

Take care,
Paige :)

It does make us look younger, slows down ageing. It's been confirmed by several studies.  :)
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

Post-op since late 2005

Yes, I already looked 10 years younger than my peers when I was a male. So after 6 plus yrars on HRT and 2 plus years after SRS, I look even younger.

However, I work hard on it. I run 5k races in 30 minuted, I have cute young toyboys as company. I am fit and healthy. I have had FFS and use botox and weekly facials  I AM NOW 70 years old. Yes, for me its my fountain of youth. And yes that avitar is me.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

I've also noticed that a lot of us look younger than our chronological age before starting HRT, and HRT rolls back (wink wink walmart, lol) and slows down the physical signs of aging even more!  As the saying goes, trans don't crack💕

Before HRT, at around 47 years old, I was already looking 10 years younger than my actual age but now after being on HRT for 10 months, I am definitely looking younger than before. In some ways it's kind of crazy because everyone around me is aging but at 51 years old I'm looking better and younger with every passing day.

Thank you very much for all your responses, girls.

So it is not just wishful thinking after all!
