The Bilerico Project

"...you're going to see, I think, by the end of 2009 the Employment Non-Discrimination Law will become law. It will be illegal to discriminate based on sexual orientation anywhere in the country. A hate crimes law including protection for people who are transgender will have passed. And we will be, at that point, well on our way to try to extend this to people who are transgender and to getting rid of the ban of gays in the military."

The thing I don't get is what if the democrats control the house, the senate and
the white house, why just go for this!

Franlk's a real piece of work (from reading his past comments, its no wonder
he did what he did, he never respected T's EVER).

Barney Frank and the Human Rights Campaign stand squarely in the way of an ENDA that protects us as well as gays, bisexuals, and Lesbians.  Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin is for it and the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, has lost her voice.

Briefly, the Human Rights Campaign claims to represent us but in reality all they want is whatever donations and publicity they can get.  Earlier in the year the pres of the HRC, Joe Solmonese, promised in front of a large audience at the Southern Comfort conference that there would be an ENDA that includes us.  You can see the results of that promise.

I have called the HRC numerous times to express my views, gave a room to others who were on Capitol Hill for Transgender Lobby Days, and written to Mr. Frank, Mr. Solmonese, the muted Speaker of the House, and Congressman Jim Moran, when I lived in his district.

Mr. Frank and Ms. Pelosi need to be out of Congress as soon as possible.  That might give us a chance for a closer approach to genuine equality, however enforced in needs to be.

I'm convinced Barny Frank has never been and never will be an honest ally of the trans community.  I believe he is one of the remaining gay leaders who joined with others to exclude trans people from the political efforts they were undertaking in the years following Stonewall in the wrongheaded belief that they would achieve their rights faster that way.

We need a new spokesperson for the truly inclusive LGBT community in Congress.  I think Tammy Baldwin will be the one who can step into that role.

Barny Frank and the other gay people like him have devolved into political dinosaurs, as far as I'm concerned.  The sooner they die off, the better for all of us.

Remember that they are not the only Democrats to work against us. Politicians are all the same, the want to be re-elected so they do not have to go back out and get a real job after the term is up. Term limits now!
