Hi

Does anyone have good experiences with the treatment of coronal incision scars? I was told by the clinic that I could use the "rosa musqueta oil" that is said to help with scars, but does it also make sense to use silicone scar gel or other things? I dont want the scar to stretch or remain visible when the hair falls away from that spot.

FFS was 6 weeks ago now, so I think I dont have to worry about closure of the suture anymore...

Thank you

I had my FFS just a little over a year ago and I still have a visible scar. While creams will help soften the skin for better healing, the only truly effective way to cover the coronal scar is with hair transplants.

That makes little sense to cover a coronal scar with hair transplants, because they would have to be taken from another strip of hair somewhere else and then there is just another scar again.... unless one does FUE, but that means shaving parts of the head - yuk.

This is how it looks at 6 weeks now. I suppose this is still early in recovery, so I expect a lot of improvement in the future, but was just wondering if it helps the recovery if I apply some creams, oil, silicone gel to it now?

Anja! That looks like a really neat scar. Is it sore at all? How are your results? Are you happy with FT? Also, is there a lot of hair gone from around the scar? I think you should see a dermatologist immediately so they can help with the healing and minimisation.

Thank you for posting a pic, I always wondered how the coronal scar from FT looks.

Well, I am not sure about the hair that is gone - it looks to me like there is a gap in the hair around the scar. I was told by a friend that this was going down to 1/3 of the width after some months. Its hard to say as I only can see the photo myself - I cannot look at the back of my head.
I think some hair were shaved there and should grow through the scar now. I am not sure if that is happening already, I feel something that feels like stubble, so maybe it is. But maybe its just scar tissue yet. Hard to say, really.

Getting an appointment at a dematologist is a bit of a pain. I hate going to doctors here in Germany because usually they seem to prefer you stay away because they are overworked anyways and so the next appointment usually can be done in a couple of weeks, not a few days.

Overall, I think FT did a great job, yes. I can see the change in the forehead and eyes already, the nose is smoother but still swollen and the chin is tapered but chin and jaw are also still having significant swelling. The CT shows a significant change in jaw and chin shape though, so I am hopeful that if the swelling goes away and there is not too much sagging, it will look great.

Its just been 6 weeks, so the swelling should subside and the scar in the picture should also improve with time.

I'm really glad to hear they did a great job. I'm happy for you. I guess waiting up to a year for the healing to be complete is the most laborious part.

Yes the waiting is annoying because of course after 4-5 weeks one starts to feel healthy again and now at 7 weeks I feel like the surgery is "long done" and I should go on with other things, but I still see that it will take time - for nerve healing, swelling,... its a bit of a felt discrepancy between what one expects to be at , almost 2 months after a surgery - and the well known reality that it will take 6 or 12 months. But I already see much is good and improved and there was good improvement until now, but of course it gets slower with time - asymptotic...
