I like it when old posts I've never seen pop up. ^_^

For some reason, the movie that had the strongest affect on me when I was young was "My Girl".

I have absolutely no idea why.

I remember being completely horrified by Watership Down, as well.  But then it wasn't really a kid's movie, despite being animated.  I was also freaked out by the original Willie Wonka.  I remember when I was 4 they played it on T.V. and I flat out refused to watch the rest after the one girl got turned into a giant blueberry.

I was a huge Star Wars fan (especially Return of the Jedi).  Also loved The Goonies, D.A.R.Y.L., and Cloak and Dagger

And of course there was always E.T. I dragged my parents to see that on the big screen 3 times.  Too bad, though, that it didn't hold up very well.  I went to see the re-release a few years ago, and it just wasn't nearly as good as I remembered, although there were things that I saw in it as an adult, that I never did as a kid.

I forgot to mention Jurassic Park. Star Wars was a big one as well. I was also into Forrest Gump pretty early... Man, I'm young.

They play it on Christmass every year, once I was slightly intoxicated asleep in front of the tv when the Oompa-Loompas came on. I was never so freeked out, what's with the orange skin and green hair. Oompa-Loompa-Doompa-Dee ..

Damn it! LOL!

I didn't like Dan being a nurturing, fatherly figure. I've always liked him playing helpless bachelor. Haha! But I have never watched "My Girl" all the way through... I get embarrassed for him (or maybe just myself, it's hard to tell).

A.I. artificial inteligence.  Kinda sad like pinocchio.  His bro & his friends dont like him b/c he aint a 'real' boy. At the end he meets the blue faerie & she gives him what he wants for 1 day. Damn one day but he's hella happy w/that. :(

There's a few movies that affected me as a kid and I STILL enjoy them a lot. The main one for me was Pokemon The First Movie. When I used to watch that movie it....I don't know I feel like it spiritually affects me..I'm a huge pokemon fan and it has always been a part of my childhood and it's still a huge part of me and probably always will be. I watched this movie a couple weeks back and at the end of the movie when..Ash dies temporarily (yeh temporarily)...omg I cried so hard I hadn't cried that hard in a long time..my body was hurting from crying so hard (I've seen the movie like a thousand times but it still affects me so much) Hmm...Other than Pokemon I would say maybe the movie I'm currently into now which is Indiana Jones Temple of Doom. I've always loved that movie ever since I was little and I still love it to this day (I couldn't watch Mola Ram pull the heart out of that guys chest but now I can  :icon_poke: ) It's a cool action movie and curse Mola for having such a difficult headdress to replicate  :icon_userfriendly:

Wizard of OZ, first and foremost. then, of course, The Moon-Spinners, with Hayley Mills.

In addition to "My Girl" (sorry Elwood. ^_^).  I also just remembered two other movies that were extremely important to me when I was growing up.

'Ghost' and 'The Land Before Time'.

The reason was because my family was pretty poor and those were the only two movies we owned for about 10 years.
I know both of them almost line by line. ^_^

My sister and I would watch them with the volume on mute and then recite the lines as the movie went on.  We always fought about who got to be Ducky.

Good Son. (1993).  :)
And some comedy with R. Williams who played a child who looked like an 80 year old by the time he was 20. Can't remember the title.  ;D

That movie with Robin Williams was called Jack--- kind of a bastardization of progeria, in my opinion.

That said, Neverending Story was a big one for me... I've even been to the studios in Munich, Germany, where it was filmed, and saw the original Falcor model. My absolute favorite movie as a kid was a little-known Canadian film called The Peanut Butter Solution... I watched it well over a hundred times around ages 8-10, and just recently found a pirated copy on eBay... one of the weirdest, coolest films I've ever seen. The soundtrack was done by Celine Dion, way back in 1985 before anyone had any idea who she was. Crazy.

The movie that I think had the biggest impact on me, however, was Stand By Me. I saw it when I was 10, and never forgot it. I can attribute my fascination with railroad tracks to that movie, and I always wanted to be those boys on their journey to self-discovery. Incredible film, and every time I watch it again it re-instills in me the fact that Stephen King, in his early days, was an absolute genius.

Well I have three movies Star Wars, Grease, and Water Ship Down. Star Wars and Grease because Star Wars had things I never seen before, grease of course the music and they were such great movies. The Water Ship Down is not like the new cartoons. As a child 4 years of age I thought this was horrible movie. I was made to watch this by my dad it gave me nightmares for years. I have not watched the movie since but I wonder If it was as violent as I remembered. Anyways I just wonder what are the movies affected you most as a child?

I hated Watership Down with a passion, although I never more than a few minutes.  I think I mostly hated it because it serious, and because my sister said that rabbits bled and died in the movie.  It might be a decent piece of animation (haven't seen it since), but it is not a family movie, which is how I've seen it advertised.  Sorry, but I must rant whenever I see the name of that dear dreaded movies.
