Hi,
Just thought I would join you all here. I am 54, based in the UK and on the verge of starting HRT. It should start in a couple of weeks! I don't know what to expect at my age!

I was referred to a GIC around the same time as you - an aweful long wait. I started the process off going through a private doctor at the same time. Costs a bit but a few months is so much better than a couple of years!

Hi, Julie!
Welcome to Susan's.
Congratulations on starting HRT! You are in good company here. There are lots of us over-50 transitioners. I am 63, and started HRT nearly a year ago.
What to expect? Well, everyone is different. Breast development will likely start within two weeks of starting E. It begins as a tingling sensation in or under the nipples. In my first year, I have grown to an A cup, my rate of hair loss has slowed dramatically. My body hair, never very dense to begin with, had almost completely disappeared. I feel much calmer, and random, unwanted violent imagery that I have had for years has ceased.

I am now 6 days I to HRT! Not sure when or what will happen first. I did start to feel at peace with myself straight off. Just the fact that I am moving forward and have some resolution at last.
