New to the site.  A bit of a back story.  I am a recovering sex addict, my wife and I see a marriage counselor.  About a month ago I mentioned to my wife about getting a bilateral orchiectomy.  We discussed this further, researching sites the effects, the pros and cons, etc.  We talked with our counselor about it where she was asking me if I am sure about this.  To make a longer story a bit shorter I told her I was along with the research, and the discussion my wife and I had.  My wife is all for it, my counselor is supportive as well.  One of the main reasons for the orchiectomy is to lower my libido, my sex drive.  Yes I know it would be a strong possibility it would be eliminated all together which I am fine with.  Any who, while I was continuing my research links about transgender Male to female were beginning to pop up.  So I figured sure and started researching that as well.  Since I will be having my testicles removed, and I no longer would need them for reproduction, and i dont want to be on any sort of testosterone HRT for fear of a relapse (yes i know there is still a minimal amount of testosterone via my adrenal glands) that I would opt/choose to be on a female HRT regimen.  SO I started researching down that Avenue.  Yes I will say I absolutely love the outcome from the calming after the orchiectomy to the changes my body will be going through.  Yea puberty will suck again but will be way worth it in the long run.  I was wondering if others have had an orchiectomy prior to SRS, if there are any other recovering sex addicts out there who opted this route as well.  Thank you for your time in reading my post, I look forward to seeing the replies.

You may want to get to the root of your out of control sex drive.

I say this because out of control sex drive was a problem for me and my wife. I even went so far as having hormone levels checked. All normal. Long story short, my constant "need" for sex was a coping mechanism for discomfort with male anatomy. I kept hoping that if I had sex enough that I would begin feeling better about my male anatomy. I became obsessive about it and would berate my wife any time she wasn't in the mood, because I felt she was preventing me from achieving my hope of making my dysphoria go away through the most "male" behavior I knew (sex).

Once I came out to my wife and fully disclosed my deep secrets of gender dysphoria and need to be feminine, my sex drive practically vanished overnight. My obsession is gone. My wife actually thought that I either no longer found her attractive or was never attracted to her to start with because the sudden difference was so profound.

I would still like to eliminate the effects of testosterone from my life, but sex drive is now pretty much under control. I do still experience occasional erections, which are awful, but otherwise I barely think about sex now. Mostly I want her affection in non-sexual ways now. It's really strange go a day or two without even thinking about it and suddenly realize that you're free from it.

I'm the proud owner of no balls since last September.  ;D

I had a reduced drive due to hormones before the orchiectomy. I can still function and ejaculate, but of course I'm now sterile. My orchi thread is a pretty good read, I documented everything.

Hugs, Devlyn

Thank you all for your replies this far.  Devlin unfortunately I am unable to read about your orchiectomy for some odd reason.

Megan.

Hi Shdwrunner! It's not entirely clear, but your post implies you've not had an orchi yet. Have you considered trying some GNRH analogues (ie Decapeptyl). They're the part of my HRT regime that stops my testicles from producing any Testosterone, and give the same net effect as an orchi, but a reversable one! This would allow you to 'try before you buy' and experience life with female levels of testosterone before committing to surgery.

Any good therapist is going to ask this question before signing off for female HRT: are you a woman? Not "do you think you could adjust to life as a woman" or anything like that. Transitioning to female is not something to be approached lightly. You haven't really mentioned anything in your post that indicates gender dysphoria. You could very well have a strong libido as woman. Many on this board that transitioned found that their libido actually increased when their body and sexual experience matched their gender. But using female hormones as a tool to combat male sex drive is not something I recommend. If you are not convinced that you are already a woman, then you may be in for some very unpleasant psychological and emotional side effects as your body begins to mismatch your male gender.

I am only assuming you are not transgender because you didn't state anything to indicate that you are. I apologize if I am mistaken. I am not trying to attack you, just trying steer you away from what sounds like a dangerous decision. I would also like to lovingly urge you to get under the care of a good therapist if you are not already. Whether you are just a male who wants castration to reduce sex drive, or a woman who needs to transition through hormones, you will benefit greatly from medical and psychological supervision. This is not a road to walk down alone.

Bluejaye, I have ALWAYS wanted to be a female for as long as I can remember.  Before my wife and I started really dating she knew I wanted to be a woman.  There was one time when I was young my hair was long enough for being short for my mother to braid my hair around my head.  I absolutely loved it, when I he showed my dad he was abhorred and told me to take them out.  When I was able to I would wear my sister's clothes and it would feel right and comfortable.  When puberty hit, and the first time and many many times there after when I masturbated I would use my two fingers push my member in and roll it around.  Being uncircumcised made it easy.  It was many years later when I stroked it for the first time.  There is an anterior motive to the orchiectomy which is having female HRT directly after, which would help my body match my mind so to speak.

The backstory I was missing. I apologize. The initial post just kind of sounded like thinking female hormones could suppress sex addiction. Now I understand where you're coming from.
