While I'm not ready to go public yet (and probably won't be for quite some time), I did my bit for TDOV yesterday and came out to a close friend.

After telling her I was trans her first question was "Wait. Which way?" (understandable as I present male so could easily have been FTM). :icon_lol:

She took it really well and had a few (non-invasive) questions but was really supportive. I feel so good to have told her.  ;D

@ Shiratori:  Definitely count yourself very fortunate.
I had to chuckle when you stated that she said "Wait, which way?"

When I was first into my HRT I cam out to my parents and some of my very best friends.....  2 of my very best friends disowned me and won't talk to me and my parents still won't talk to me 3+ years later.
I called my mother on Christmas Day a couple months ago and she blew me away by calling me Danielle!!  First time ever!!!   My dad is still very put off and ignores me like I don't exist any more.... I guess that in his eyes that he no longer has me as a son.

So anyway, I live over 1000 miles away now so I don't see any of them much any longer...  sad, but I have made lots of new and good friends here where I am now.

Thanks for your post, looking for updates as you feel comfortable doing.
Hugs,
Danielle

He's right Danielle. He doesn't have a son but a daughter instead

Your friend's reaction gave me chuckle - thanks for that! :-*

I had a somewhat similar event, but had already been presenting for a week at the time. When my friend, who was visiting from out of state, asked if he could meet up for coffee. I paused for a moment, and then blurted "You should know that I'm not who you remember. I'm a trans woman." Without skipping a beat, he said that it was OK with him, and asked how I was doing, whether I was stressing about coming out to others and making certain I was in a good place. He then asked which place had the best coffee and what time to get together. A good friend who really cares - took a big load off. :)

Love to all.

I Love the reaction!

My best friend had a similar reaction. She said "But you never wear womens cloths!" Keep in mind I'm a guy. Then we started laguging hysterically to that obvious statement.
