Shallow depth "cosmetic" SRS healing question

I would ask my surgeon, but this is the weekend and I'm all concerned now, but I have a question about healing. I'm about two months post op and it appears to be healing very well, perhaps too well. What? Apparently, the labia minora is healing shut from the bottom up. This started a few weeks ago and appears to be closing up fast. No soreness, no blood, just excessive healing. From what I understand, dialation would stop this from happening.

As far as the vaginal canal, I believe I do have a slight depth and that hasn't changed. But the way the opening is healing, access is restricting. I believe I'm going to have to lightly dialate  to keep the inner labia from shutting. Does this sound right? Having this shut might not only cause problems with urination, I believe it would close off a sensitive feel good area. Do I dialate to keep this area open?

Hello dianea, welcome to Susan's!

I recommend contact your surgeon soon as possible.  As a percentage of two months, one or two days to get through the weekend probably won't impact your question.  I had GCS/SRS but not shallow-depth, so I am not a good source of information on this.

Since this was your first post I'll add information to help with navigation and site guidelines.

When you get a chance it would be great if you introduce yourself in the Introductions Forum.

Great to see you here - and I hope your surgeon can quickly resolve your question.

Hello Dianea,

I had a shallow or partial gcs performed by Dr. Ley seven months and have mostly healed. Their procedure is a two stage process with most of the work being done in the first go round  and the labia minor and the hood for the clitoris  added 3 to 6 months later. There is a very shallow (maybe one inch deep) vaginal presence that requires no dilation  or maintenance (as per my doctors instructions). What you speak of, the healing closed of your inner lips seems abnormal to my non doctor mind. This is something that I would definitely  bring up with my surgeon. If they are not close, take pictures and send them in to your doctor for comment. The fix is probably minor if needed at all.

Good luck with this and keep us posted on your progress. There are not many of us "Shallow" girls here so anything that you can add to our general knowledge base will be greatly appreciated.

Heal well

I'd guess there's no harm in dilating to the extent you can, since you'd being doing that with the far more invasive surgery of full depth. Perhaps just use a clean finger and lube to apply pressure and keep it open?
