I would have liked to have a poll that could test before and after aptitude for crying,
but the forum software doesn't allow multiple questions and it would get too convoluted
with a single question.

I am very much interested in people's attitudes towards crying.

I dont think I have any more tears left to cry.

Post HRT:  At first Id just start crying for no good reason, or for very good reasons, but I cryed very often... Then I learned some self controll and ballanced out.
For quite a while I cryed infrequently when I had good reason or was watching, listening, or reading something very emotional...
Now I find I cry most every day... usualy when trying to fall asleep...  Life is sad, and hard, and if I dont release the frustration somehow Id probably snap...

Pre HRT:  With how often I cry now I suppose Im making up for the past...  I dont remember ever crying before HRT... not when my pets died, nor my grandmother, nor when I was hurt or severely injured...  Some people thought I was very strong, some thought I was cold and heartless...  I would want to cry but was physicaly inable...  I guess I was just stoic times 10....  I think I like crying better than not... I used to be very angry...

OMG! I cry at a good TV commercial! I get emotional at the littlest of things...and I wouldn't change that about me!

I haven't noticed any difference in pre/post HRT either...I've always been emotional.

Peace and love,

I seldom cry.  The one thing that brings tears is a very moving artistic performance.  "Un bel di vedremo" from Madam Butterfly always makes me cry.  I am not on HRT.  :)

I cry, often. Last time? Yesterday afternoon, pretty much for three hours.

Kittens born yesterday morning. One died at 1 p.m. or so. Poor little struggling life. Like us all, just a shorter span.

Before HRT, I cried some, like during a sad movie. I think I cried a lot more than the normal man. After and during HRT, I cry a lot. It just seems the big tears just come flying out of the tear ducts. I can sit in my bus waiting for the motor to warm up and think of something that happened sometime in the near past or long ago past and just well up and out comes the tears. I find it different depending on the day of the week. I'm on the patch and it happens at certain times during the week.

But that has a lot of attribution to many subjects I deal with hurt. However, it most certainly is much easier and less painful to cry now. Previously in the pseudo life I was one of the "I have cried only under exceptional circumstances".

Pre-HRT I cried rather easy but now that I've been on HRT for 19 months I cry at almost anything.   And this past week, the Holidays, have been even worst.  On Friday I had to put my dog to sleep, she was 18 years old and was in a lot of pain but that didn't make it any easier.  Every time I think about her I begin to cry, today at work I was sitting at my desk I was just listening to Susan Moses, The Talking ->-bleeped-<- Show and I just begin to cry & it wasn't anything on the show it was just the my dog came running through my mind.  But to answer the question at hand, I cry more easily now than I did before. :embarrassed:

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your dog...I had to put down 2 of my cats not too long ago and god did that kill me. I was a sobbing mess for weeks and the littlest of things would set me off again. One cat was 18 and the other 16 and once the one went the other followed rather quickly.

Hang in there, it gets easier with time...but in the mean time...just cry it out.

Peace and love,
Izzy

i am weak

Oh, my goodness. Dear...crying has nothing to do with being strong or weak. Crying doesn't make you weak in the least. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being emotional...I would much rather be in touch with my emotions then not...they help guide me through life...yes sometimes I make an emotional, non-logical decision, but I find they almost always are right anyway...listen to your emotions and never let someone tell you you are weak because you cry...

Peace and love,
Izzy

I was in the car Friday night listening to NPR read Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", and by the time they got to "And Scrooge was better than his word", I lost it.  Cried all the way home.  Some turns of phrase just push me over the edge now, much easier than pre-HRT.

I properly sob every couple of months or so, but I often get watery eyes and a lump in my throat, especially when I see things that are beautiful. I tear up at the strength that I see in the love between people, and when I see that. I'm welling a little now.

Actually I started crying tonite at work.  One of my residents at the nursing home passed away a few weeks ago and I was signing a card to her family.  Its making me tear up thinking about it.  I get so attached to the people that I take care of sometimes, and its hard to let them go.

The worst was when I got a letter from my parents saying that "I make everyone around me uncomfortable"  like how can they even say that.  They are the ones who never even talk to me and haven't seen me or even been around me at all for like the last year.

Anyway,  I made the mistake of reading this letter, that also said some ofther "nice" things about me, right before work.  I was able to hold it in until dinner when it just came out.  all the emotional turmoil came to a head and just exploded.  I was sobbing uncontrollably and shaking so bad I had to go home.  I am still having a hard time letting go of the extreme anger that I have towards them, and trying to not let it turn into loathing.  Oh too late.

Ohh.
I'm so sorry.
I know what it's like to not have family accept you.
I'm so sorry that happened.
My friend works in a nursing home and He knows how difficult it is dealing with the pain of all that happens.
I'm so sorry.

Do hormones help at all with the emotional things like crying?  I mean help as in FtM, because I can cry at anything sad and it's soooo annoying.  I hate it so much I am tempted to pay somebody to hypnotise me and shut it off completely, I hate it that much.  Please tell me there is some salvation at the end of the road.

Before I transitioned, I cried very rarely. I tried to keep all my emotions under control. When I transitioned, even before I started HRT, I cried frequently. I think it was because I was finally allowing myself to feel all the things I'd tried to lock away. It's been years now and most of the old stuff is out of my system. Now I cry for the things in the here-and-now. Happy tears shared with my daughter on her engagement, sad tears for the passing of our pet cat, angry tears when arguing with the IRS and all the other tears that come because I feel.
