Out of state insurance

Hi, I live in North Dakota and want to buy out of state insurance to have gender reassignment surgery out of state (most likely in that state). It's really awful here for trans rights, but HRT is minimally covered by a mere 2 doctors in this state. One of which I see and gate keeps me from a full dosage (not commenting on how I deal with that). My problem is that I need a sex change, and after years and years of HRT (not going to tell how i got it), my doctor is still gate keeping and there is no place in the state of ND to even get gender reassignment surgery. Can anyone help me..?? I feel suffocated and suicidal because my body, and just want to hurt myself. It's horrible. I have no options and no hope here, and I need to find out how I can get what i need! I just need to know what insurance will allow me to "snowbird" or whatever it's called, and is very easy to get gender reassignment surgery!! I am looking toward Washington / Oregon. I want to go with marci bowers or somebody really experienced, and she takes insurance from both those states. I just want to know how I can purchase a plan out of state, that I can use in say 6 months if I can somehow get 2 letters (which I have a huge issue getting still because gatekeeping). Please, can anyone tell me what insurance providers can do this? How I can do this?

It's a bit more complicated than that. Because each state has it's own rules on insurance, if an out of state company sells you a policy, they must obey the rules of the state they sell it in. This is why each state has a different Blue Cross company handing the policy in that state. The easiest way to do it would be to move to the desired state but other than that, you need to review all the policies available in the state you live in. Often policies will cover an out of state surgery but you need to review the requirements of the policy. That might mean therapy and the number of letters required before surgery is granted. My California policy covered my Colorado surgery however it was after the fact and I needed cash up front.

If you can find work with a national company, they might cover higher than state minimums. My employer sponsored plan covers GCS for employees anywhere in the country. With a lack local of docs, you'll need to travel for the procedure but your residence wouldn't preclude coverage in a case like this.
