What is your favorite scent or a bath product? Or what are you using atm?

Is having a gendered product important to you? Does it feel validating to use it?

Do you have a story to tell?

When did you switch to men's/women's products etc...?

Is there something you can't stand?

Pics are welcome! (You can link them with this search engine since google removed the option to view the image: https://duckduckgo.com/?t=hy)

Again a fun thread for everyone and not to be taken too seriously  ;D!
---

Here's mine:
I'm using Axe Excite shower gel atm. The scent is okay but I like it bcos the stuff is purple !!!

Another one I'm crazy about atm is this:
Palmolive Coconut Joy - smells so good!!!

And a story as a bonus: I wanted to buy some type of cologne/aftershave since I was like 14...! But never did. Until recently. (After the name change.) It was a huge mental block for me and felt like a milestone though I've been using men's products since that 14 or so...! I absolutely LOVE it!!! And putting it on does feel so validating, yes. It was something I ALWAYS wanted and felt extremely important to me. I like to smell good  ;D! (No, I don't overuse it!!!)

Homemade lavender, beeswax bar soap.  Sometimes, just for the scent!

Can't stand most of them because I'm hyper sensitive to smell. To the point of most strong synthetic perfumes give me a headache

I'm not fussed about the gender of the products when they're subtle. Tbh Axe is usually way too strong aside from Mg+02, which is great. I buy that stuff in six-packs. And you can't get Mitchum Ult gel over here that isn't womens' apparently. But that's cool because you can barely smell it, or it comes unscented.

Aside from that I guess I use Nivea mens' post shave balm and Kistna, both of which smell good. Mostly I use tea tree stuff on my skin and you know what that smells like.

When did I start using mens' products? I dunno, I've always been borrowing them for what seems like forever. Started buying men's razors and shaving stuff when I needed to. Been using whatever shower gels were around that didn't bother my head but mostly male ones for as long as I've been living with dudes, which is about 16 years.

I can't stand it when someone wears so much perfume or body spray it's like being gassed when they walk by. I guess they can't smell it as easily as I can. My flatmate uses aerosol deodorants and those bother my lungs and so do most air fresheners and jossticks.

I agree with Kylo on the scent thing.  Most of them are far, far too strong for me and burn my eyes and sinuses.

I go for unscented or very lightly scented products as much as possible.  I started using Secret deodorant as soon as I was out to my wife, because I could and because it is one of the few brands with an unscented version.  For soap, I use a hand-made soap that I get at the local farmers' market.  It has a very mild scent that doesn't bother me at all.  My favourite flavour is cedar and patchouli.

When I started using a blade razor instead of an electric, I got some shaving cream.  But the stuff was so strong, I practically needed a hazmat suit to use it.  It went in the garbage, and I now just lather up some of that mild soap.

I have tried Nivea cream for my skin, but I just about needed a gas mask to use it.  Now, I have found a local brand called Nova Scotia Fisherman that has some heavy-duty skin creams with very mild scents.  The one I use is based on kelp, but don't worry, it doesn't smell like seaweed.

Megan.

I wear Flower by Kenzo most days.

When it comes to bath products, it's usually what ever is on offer, but I tend to focus on products that moisturise and hydrate my skin.

Usuals:

The Body Shop do some great shower gels if you feel like blowing some money, eau de toilettes for women which are nice but I won't wear myself (cherry blossom always smelled fairly nice to me) and also some for men that are acceptable and not recognizable as just some "cheap aftershave" type stuff.

I've been accused of not buying any old cheap crap just to get washed in, which isn't technically true, but I don't care, I do like to buy decent stuff or stuff that I enjoy using after too many years on a student budget.

I have always used the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree line for my hair. I have always used it just because it makes me feel clean and doesnt have a strong scent for my fairly luscious hair. I want some pleasent feminine body wash but am new to this arena. Open to recommendations, even just general direction or brand to explore!

Haha, I don't know if those Palmolive shower gels are feminine (or special) enough for you, but there's great selection! I like pretty much all of them personally  :). That Coconut Joy really smells good imo. It's pampering kinda smell  :D!

And Kylo: I've had that hangover thing long time ago  :D!

That sounds heavenly. I have started using a coconut moisturizer and I love it. I always had a disconnect or boredom with male grooming products. Its amazing how much my self care has bettered since I came out.

I am also excited to try this shampoo my coworker recommended called Deva Curl. It makes your hair curlier and I have always wanted to bring that out. Maybe even cute little ringlets someday.

I can't stand using shower products at all, and threw it all in the garbage about 3 years ago. I do "no poo" now with equal parts rye flour and ACV. Haven't bought face wash, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hair products, or even deodorant and toothpaste, since then. It's baking soda, rye/ACV, and the occasional dab of essential oil for everything.

Bonus is that I only spend about $20 a year on body care product.

I generally shoot for unscented soap (aveeno body wash), shampoo and deodorant (tom's) as the only scent I really want is a light use of whatever perfume I'm wearing and don't want scents mixing.

However, I will use tea tree products in my hair from time to time.  There are exceptions to every rule right?

Doc Bronner's lavender. the scent is mild, it makes my skin wake up and sigh.
I don't much care if something is 'gendered', I just like what feels good.
I switch between Dove bar soap and Suave shampoo/conditioner.
I love my loofah!

I have two atm, AVON's Little Red Dress and Far & Away, both have perfume, body wash and lotion. I'm really OCD about my lotion, body wash, and perfume matching so it's nice to have them at hand.

Honestly, I really can't recall the last time I bought a men's shampoo or body wash the scents are kind of repulsive to me, so it's probably been since high school.

I love my orange blossom scented stuff. I'm big on citrus in general but orange blossom in particular! I have a blood orange tree that has the most wonderful smelling flowers.

Dr Bronner's Almond Castile soap. All natural with a very light smell of marzipan. I use for hair and body.

Peace and love and all that good stuff,

Before, I never bought my own product...just got enough for Christmas to easily last until...next Christmas lol Now, i'm mostly borrowing my SO's stuff, but I'm trying to be mindful of when it starts to get low and buy duplicates and all that. heh heh

Yes and no. I think for things like shampoo, conditioner, and shower gels- most definitely!  I'm kind of worried that there are like ingridients that might increase body hair growth or something in men's product...probably not true, but why take the risk?  I did buy a girly razor at first, but it went horribly and all tutorials I found online girls are just like, "Just buy a man's razor" and I seem to be okay with that.

I'll do you one better! With pictures LOL This was my before/after pics of a typical shower for me.

About 28 days ago. A few days after I first thought critically about being transgender.
