I am a 28 year old fully transitioned MTF transgender. As a young child I seem to always know I was a girl trapped in a boys body. Once I was 10 years old I talked with my parents concerning my feelings and I was really surprised hey were both really loving and supportive of me. The are both of the medical field background with my Dad being a Neurologist and Mom having a degree in Speech Therapy. The allowed me to start exploring into this more while growing out my hair and wearing more feminine clothing. My mom also left her position of her job and started home schooling me a year later so I could even more fully explore this. All this time my older brother was also quite supportive of me as well. At the age of 16 is when I started hormone therapy and my body began to change pretty quickly. I was already a rather tall person but my figure was starting to fill out as more as a female at the waist and breast and bottom. Also I should say I am African American so my hair as it got longer I kept straight with a straightener as much as possible as I do now. To make a long story short I went through the entire journey and it took me just about all the way through college. I also met a wonderful man three years ago who is amazing and is also very supportive of me. This past November 17, 2017 he ask me to marry him. We are currently in the works of a 2019 wedding.

You may ask why did I not just come out as Gay at that early age. Well there are a few reason. First of which is obvious that I felt inside I was a female trapped in a male body. Next I enjoyed the company of Male friends and some were attractive as I got to be a teen, but I was so repulsed by my own male genitalia that there was no way I was going to be intimate with another male. Also at that period of my life I just couldn't even think of having anal sex. So that led to what felt right and it definitely was the right decision because now I am in a loving relationship with a man who cares for me and loves me and I can love him back as who I really am.... a women.

** Also when I first met my Fiance the first thing I told him was I was born a Male. He was shocked and thought I was lying. He is such a sweetheart and it didn't even seem to phase him only that I brought it up.**

OK, now that I wrote a book I will say I hope to get to know you all better within the forums.

Hi Raquel, welcome to the forum. I'll be 28 next month and my story is a bit different, well it's a different timeline at least.
I saw love as love, and still do. Thing is, I never experienced it. Not for myself and definitely not for anyone romantically.
Congrats on planning your marriage! I always love hearing others' stories.
I started hrt last September and I'm still very much in the beginning of my transition in every way. I don't have my family's full support, yet. But when I do, I think I'll be unstoppable as you have been.

Hi Allison, and thank you for the welcome. The beginning stages of transition is such a wonderful time as you will see. You will experience so much and just take it all in. Don't let others get you down ever. It is great that you are here in a place like this site with so many supportive people. The main thing is you are happy with yourself.

I also love that you added the word YET to your family being on board. It isn't an easy thing to accept that is for sure, but with the way you stated it at least the door seems to still be opened and that is great. I hope we can continue to chat.

Oh and I have a question for you if that is OK. I see that you have an avatar photo. I don't seem to have that option or I can't figure out where to put one on. I also can't figure out how to edit my profile.

Thank You, Raquel

That's a beautiful story, Raquel!

I'm so happy that your family and loved ones are so incredibly supportive through everything!  I'm glad that you reached out and decided to be part of the sister(and brother)hood here on Susans!  ;D

I understand what you mean about not being gay. I used to think that because I wasn't masculine enough that I could only be gay, but I was never attracted to men, only penises.  Though, I too, hated my own penis; and got close to attempting to cut it off myself once a long time ago.

I'm so happy you're engaged! I do hope you feel open to share the many MANY photos that will be taken at your wedding with friends here at Susans. At the very least, I'm sure they'll help many of those with dysphoria(or not) believe in the path they've chosen in life!

Yours is a very happy, and romantic story, indeed. I hope nothing but the best for you in your future!

Usually one of the Admin will post a link of good rules and stuff for Susans. Part of it is the ranking system, and it's based on number of posts- once you have enough, you can post your avatar (and no longer have to say if a Tree can Fly! xD)
Looking to make and keep friends! Spreading the love, now that I can truly love myself!

Hi Eryn, I have been extremely blessed with parents and family that has been supportive right from the beginning and throughout. I unfortunately heard many horror stories about families completely falling apart because of  what ones family members realization of who they really are.

I will certainly post the wedding photos. I am already excited and we are just in the early stages of planning. We don't even have an exact date yet.

I hope that we can continue to chat as I get to know this place.

Thank You, I thought it had something to do with the post count.

Hi Raquel, welcome to Susan's Place. It's great that you decided to join us here! I have to say that you are likely to be the envy of those like me who have known all their lives there had been a mixup at birth, along with those who have just discovered what's been wrong their whole lives, who are just transitioning while older. I, for example, have known since about the same time you did, but only was able to begin transitioning last year at age 58. You have a whole wonderful life ahead of you, and it's really cool that you've come here to the best place on the internet to share with us.

As an official greeter here, I've attached a list of guidelines for Susan's. Take a read through them, and I think you'll find a lot of useful information.

Again, welcome!

Stephanie

The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Hi Raquel!!

I love hearing stories of supportive families! They seem to be the exception rather than the rule so it's nice to be reminded that people can be decent.

I super identify with the difference between identifying as a gay male and identifying as trans....they are very very different things. I personally have never felt the need to be with a man as I am now. It doesn't do anything for me. But when I place myself in a female role, mentally or physically, it all just clicks. I look forward to seeing you around the site!

Your NEEDS drive your WANTS which drive your ACTIONS. To not take action is to not meet your needs.

I am like an archaeological excavation - being uncovered piece by piece, slowly...methodically... until all of the real ME stands proud in the light of day.

Alyssa, Thank You so much for the welcome. I also look forward to seeing you around the forums. My parents and older brother are amazing people to say the least. I suppose for myself always knowing I was a female inside I could not give myself to a man unless I was a full woman.
