Difficulty accessing treatment

I thought it would be nooooo big deal to get a therapist and get my foot in the door at a clinic where I can do HRT... I live near a big city and there are tons of clinics in the area...

No one is taking new clients right now.  Everybody and their uncle is completely booked. Like, "I'm sorry, we don't even keep a waiting list" booked.

I phoned a place about an hour away and the receptionist was rude the minute I said "transgender." 

I'm thinking this is going to be more difficult than I anticipated.  It consumes literally every ounce of psychic energy to utter anything about my situation to complete strangers. So far, my quest has been fruitless.

BLARGH. Anyway. I'm sure everyone here understands and I'm just having a little vent.

Not giving up. My BFF lives about five hours away in another big city that has some clinics. So maybe if I had to travel, I could double that up with seeing my friend. Or I ride a bicycle all the way to China. I mean surely. Somewhere. On earth. Has to be taking new clients. Right?

Are these transgender therapists, or are you cold calling general therapy offices? I'm in Boston and had an appointment in a week and hormones a week after that.

I heard Boston is an awesome place to be.

I've been calling clinics that specialize in transgender treatment, and also digging for therapists who specialize explicitly in transgender matters.

There is literally nothing available in the city. "If you are a new client, press 1" went straight to answering machines stating nobody is taking new clients.

Frustration turned into that productive flavor of rage, and after steamrolling lists of therapists all morning, I finally found someone... two hours from the city. But much closer than the hot air balloon halfway around the world I was planning.

Have you looked at medical teaching Universities like University of Minnesota, University of Maryland, or Johns Hopkins for example? If you have one near by and they have a sexual health department, I would bet they will work with Transgendered individuals.
