Perry

I've been ardently consuming every bit of information I can on this site since late last summer.  Once I exhausted all of the relevant FTM postings I moved on to following the threads created by several of the amazing women on this site to document their successes and struggles. I've learned so much here.

I am way late in joining and introducing myself, so here goes.

My name is Perry, I'm FTM, 61 years young living in So. Cal. I administered my second testosterone shot just last Monday. I retired from my career 4.5 years ago and have been working since then for a contractor to my previous employer on a part time basis.

My earliest memories are of wanting to be a boy. At 15 Mom asked me if I wanted to be a boy. Since it was the 70's and I'm co-dependent I immediately said NO. She never asked again, dang it. Last October I told her I was planning to transition. She said okay and accepted it and me, expressing that she just wanted me to be happy. My start with HRT was stalled due to some medical issues for me and for her. Unfortunately, she passed last weekend and I won't  get to show her my true self. I'll write more on these feeling in another posting.

So far, immediate family and close friends who I've come out to have been overwhelmingly supportive. (Received a great card in the mail today from friends I came out to on Sunday.) Even family I thought would need more time were immediately behind me. I am a very lucky guy!

I'll save more of my story for other posts so as not to bore anyone.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your participation in this wonderful community. I hope to help others as I have been helped.

Regards,
Perry

Hey Perry, you seem to have a wonderfully positive attitude. How do you feel about your transition? Are you nervous about any particular part of it that you see down the road?
Moni
Thank you for your kind comment earlier. I  am amazed that you could tell I have a sense of humor. My usual reaction is people hitting their forehead with their palm and walking away from me when I talk. I have learned to laugh at it.  lol

Hi again @HappyMoni, I'm thrilled with the prospect of becoming who I was always supposed to be. Better late than never. My concerns are that HRT won't quite give me the results I am looking for or that they will be very slow in coming. Since I have much more life behind me than ahead of me I want things to happen as quickly as possible. I hope to get top surgery this year, I currently have an HMO so that could seriously limit my choices for a surgeon. I may have to prioritize that surgery with a hip replacement though, going to be a tough decision.

Thanks for your questions.
Regards,
Perry

Dena

Welcome to Susan's Place. Take it from me, Testosterone is an incredibly powerful drug. I have seen a few FTMs and with a little time, it wasn't possible to recognize them. My one suggestion is take a few before picture of yourself so you can see the new you evolve. You may be very much surprised how much you will change over the period of a year or two.

We are of similar age. I get being in a hurry to get there. My top surgery is July 10th. (In my case augmentation) I really am itching to complete the transition part of things. I suspect you want everything done yesterday. You will get there though.
Warmly,
Moni

Devlyn

Hi Perry, welcome to Susan's Place! You know, you did show your mom your true self, your true self at the time. No one has any idea what they're going to grow into, so you did everything you could.

As far as this:

"I hope to help others as I have been helped."

I'd say you already have.  :)

See you around the site.

Hugs, Devlyn
