Yes, it is a Mac classic that I resurrected, though the hd appears to be beyond repair.

Edit. There's actually 2 old macintoshes, you can kind of see a performa on the ground, that was mine when I was a high schooler.

are you in the wedding or just attending, because there is nothing wrong with it as a guess, the length seems fine and those shoes look comfortable lol. Anything more than a guess might need more frill dress lol but that would be the brides choice

Different cultures have various superstitions regarding what is appropriate so it could be an idea to check with a friend or family member of either the bride or groom

When I worked as a chauffeur I had a black tux, a grey suit and a navy blue suit so when I would drive a wedding party I would find out what they would prefer

This I learned to do after being threatened and told I looked like I was going to a funeral and I'd better "change or else"

Luckily I always had the three suits with me in case I had an airporter or dinner date to run afterwards

Every girl needs a LBD in her wardrobe. They are a classic and they do have their place, but not at a wedding. Try the same cut and style in a lighter and maybe a more colorful pattern. A printed fabric would be nice.

Traditionally black has been taboo at a wedding but not so much anymore.
I think the four most important rules would be.
Don't outshine the bride.
Don't wear a color that the bridal party is wearing.
Don't have an excess of flesh exposed.
Never, ever wear all white unless someone is giving you a ring and you are speaking vows.
I think that dress is fine. Straight lines and an undemonstrative classic look that should fit in fine for most wedding unless the invitation mentions something more specific.

😁 No, it doesn't look too cheap. A less expensive dress worn well can outshine much more expensive ones. Maybe if it is formal I might pay a little more attention to the fabric than I normally worry about but that is about it.

My friend is getting married in a couple weeks and I was talking to her about how I haven't found a dress for it yet, and she actually suggested a black one that I recently showed her lol. Black is kind of my color, so it's most of my wardrobe! I'm still going to try and find a better dress but if I can't then  I do have a black one I can wear

I think it's cute. Hair, jewlery and makeup will all add to the look here. I think your smile is the best accessory though [emoji4]
Also, the only thing if I can suggest is that your dress looks like it's tight around your hip. It could be your undergarment and not the dress. That's the only thing I would watch out for here, but I think if you love the dress then it's a great choice!

I like it. Its plain but sometimes that is the attraction in a dress. I do agree that you should almost never wear black to a wedding. Only almost though eg. I'm maid of honour for my friend. She's a goth. Everyone will be wearing black. But also sometimes the "theme" might be black and white and they ask everyone to wear those colours. And sometimes, if a wedding has a bit more of a "business" feel to it then black is ok. The other option is to jazz it up with a colourful fascinator (I don't know if where you're from people tend to wear them to weddings), shoes and bag. A friend of mine looked awesome at a wedding (mine in fact) in a black dress, hot pink fascinator, hot pink heels and hot pink clutch.

I would wear that dress anywhere. However, given a choice for a spring/summer wedding,  I would use the excuse to go for a light color print, the cut is great.

I think it works fine. Maybe i'd dress it up a bit with a bracelet and/or necklace and shoes or boots that have a bit of a heel. (depending on the formalness vibe of the wedding ) One thing that works in summer that i do quite often with a short dress is booties and slouchy socks. That sounds a bit hot perhaps, but with so much leg bared you should still say cool. It lends a sort of classy nerdiness to the outfit.

Personally i think the never wear black rule has gone by the wayside and in any event adding a shiny or colored accessory offsets the monochrome feel.

If it's an evening wedding/reception, Black is fine. Since it's almost summer, I would do a similar design in something of a floral print, tea length, but that's just me. I like that dress though.
