Hi Everyone!

So I'm looking for some good book ideas on transitioning... I'm finding that while I'm on hormones and I'm excited about it most of the time I still just don't feel like a girl/am doubting I'll be able to pull off a natural confident vibe that's still me but more feminine. I'm still very early in my transition, coming up on 2 months on HRT (yay  :D). Hoping to gain some insight through reading!

Thanks  :-*

Hi!

I'm a almost to the 3 month point and I get that feeling all the time.  There are times when the twin sisters perk up and give me that, yeah, it's happening feeling, and then at other times I feel like it will never happen.

Straight up, I'm changing whether I think it or not, both physically and mentally.  I would recommend that you take a Patience Pill.  I think Tonya has them this week :)

Jennifer finney Boylan. She's written a few books on her experiences transitioning and after. Well worth the read.

Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity (Second Edition), by Julia Serano.

Here's a link to the author's blurb:

https://www.juliaserano.com/whippinggirl.html

It contains some theoretical polemics that sort of went over my head.  (You may like them though, since you're "the analytical.")

What seemed the truest and most useful to me about the book was the clear picture Serano gave of her own interior feelings and her insights into the process of her own mtf transition.  It was a gradual process of settling into a sense of self that was more natural to her than what she had lived before.  (I especially liked her insight that "passing" was actually what she had been doing for many years living as a man - trying to enact a gender role at odds to her sense of self.  On the other hand, living as a woman isn't "passing" at all - it's just living her life.)  Serano shows transition (in her case anyway) as a move from emotional dissonance to a greater sense of emotional wholeness and order.

My therapist just recommended a boom called "Redefining Realness" by Janet Mock. I have not read it yet, but it may be worth checking out.
