Be careful of vitamin deficiency while on hrt
June 10, 2018, 03:54:03 AM
Hi all
I had a problem for the last couple of months where I could not figure out what was going on with me and my health.
I lost a lot of hair my hair was dry and like straw. I also suffered from muscle cramps spasms and all sorts of strange stuff. I got depressed and I could not function properly each day.
After going to numerous doctors no one could tell me what was going on. They just said it was anxiety and believe me I had very bad anxiety. I started researching a bit and learned that hrt can cause electrolyte deficiency in normal woman. So I opted for a shot in the dark got some hydration sport drinks and some multi vitamins.
The results was amazing no more weird spasms and cramps. My hair is starting to look healthy and shiny again. I feel better generally and have more confidence and it also turns out that a electrolyte deficiency causes anxiety. So that is also lower.
So just a heads up to you girls out there that if you are experiencing these weird symptoms when on hrt you need to top up on electrolytes and vitamins.
Excuse me for living

Big hug! Glad you're feeling better.
Depending on your meds, sports drinks can have dangerous levels of potassium. My doctor said table salt was the best way (on spiro) to maintain good electrolyte levels.

Also be careful of the vitamins and make sure that your Endo knows that you take them. I was taking vitamin D at my PCP's suggestion due to low levels. After a few years I started getting symptoms that were actually caused by excessive levels of vitamin D.

Thank you for that, Dee! My doctor has me on D supplements after finding low levels. I have my fall endo appountment coming, so I will have her keep a close eye.
