Led by Assemblyman Daniel O'Donnell, an Upper West Side Democrat, the lesbian, gay, and bisexual caucus of the New York State Legislature prevailed upon the New York State Museum to include the Stonewall Rebellion of 1969 that sparked the modern LGBT movement in new exhibits being created to show the role New York has played in civil and human rights movements.
