I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Just 'wow' - it's unbelievable the lengths some people will go to, just to gain some power, prestige and no doubt a reasonable salary to go with it. Although this article only related to one country - Mexico - it highlights everything that's wrong with politics today - its full of so many careerists who'll do/say anything to gain enough votes to get elected and when successful, these people just keep riding the gravy train. When will these type of cardboard politicians realize they are there to serve the people who elect them, not the other way round?

I hope the UK is ready for some real transgender candidates in the future. Ireland has had one stand before (for the Green Party) in the North and I think one has also stood in the Republic too. Some have even been elected in certain states of the USA, if news reports are correct.

That said; being a transgender candidate shouldn't be an issue beyond declaring it for transparency reasons - the issues a candidate cares about and the principles they stand for are way more important in the bigger picture, as are whether they are standing for a party ( and what it stands for ) or as an independent candidate.

Overall, both the Uk and the USA suffer from an overly-long established 'two horse race' - I'd like to see this being broken in the long run as it's completely unhealthy to democracy. I hope voters will start electing minority party candidates and independents, based on their individual beliefs - whether they are transgender or not. Real people who believe in real issues and want to make real change have to start replacing the plastic careerists who read their pre-written spin doctor scripts like robots and drones plugged into a Matrix. Can we ordinary citizens do any worse? The answer is "No."

Only politicians, lol. I'm kinda curious what they thought they were going to do if elected.

Interesting read, although the group starting the process used procreating with women as part of the reasoning for not being transgender.

How do our members feel about that?

These are called "political chameleons." Remember we had a woman who acted black become a local member of the NAACP. She had no sub Saharan African in her DNA, but acted and made herself up as African-American. These Mexican 'Tootsies' would probably 'de-transition' if elected.
