For anyone on HRT, how much have your hips or thighs grown? This is what I'd really want, I don't care about breasts so much, even though it seems to be the primary topic of discussion in regards to "growth" from hormones.

Its not going to make your hips grow bone wise if your are far past puberty any increase in hips will proabably be just fat..Your thighs will get thicker more than likely though.

I'm probably a year or two late for that myself (sobs quietly in the procrastinator's corner of shame). Hormones are a bit like magic, but in some ways it's just not magic enough.

Yeah, I'm too late for bone change. But I know that HRT can still cause a bit of upper-leg width due to fat redistribution, though it's not usually super dramatic.

I'm also of the "I want hips" crowd.  After puberty no more bone growth, and fat distribution to the hips and butt is slow (they say 8 years for full effect).  After 2 1/2 years, I have noticed "some" fat migration but it's subtle.  I gained about 2 inches on my hips total.  I stay pretty thin, so that's quite a bit for me.  I think most of the boob talk is that breasts have a far better chance of growing than your backside.  ::)
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

I've been on  HRT for about 18 months.  On my hips I've only noticed a little bit of change.  My Male pants are a little tight, but no real hips.  Everyone is different but maybe I run on the small side since i don't have much breast growth either.

I've been on HRT for 13 years, and I may be getting butt implants; I'm also thinking about hip implants, it just depends on what the surgeon recommends during my consult, and how natural hip implants would look on me, because I don't want them if they won't look natural.

Here is my 11 month update, you can see how I've done. My hip bones were always fairly wide, but my hips and butt have really rounded out.

A lot of this is just genetics, and how heavy/skinny you are.

My hips. I'm actually still growing in my 40's. Not convinced it is supposed to be this way, but I do feel hip pains & don't think its just osteopenia speaking.  You can see the ... fat layer on the thighs/hips area too, even though I'm not really all that fat.

Then again nothing about me was normal anyways, puberty included.

I'm about 7 months on hrt, not much growth up top, but I can visually see and feel my thighs getting fatter I can see fat rounding out at the top, several pairs of my jeans are to small in the thigh area now. My hip dips have filled in a lot, and I actually have something resembling a butt now. Having said that I still want hip implants, as that's the area I'm most dysphoric about.

Hi Missy may,
Just out of interest when you compared implants against fat transfer - what tipped the scales?
Interested, Kirsten.

Hi Kristen, I don't have enough fat for fat transfer; and also, because fat transfer to the hips is rarely successful, because there isn't enough muscle to inject the fat into, so the fat will not survive, because it will not be able to establish a viable blood supply.  Dr. Ryan Stanton explains this in detail on the website Real Self.

I started a standard transiton level Estrogen/Spironalactone regimen 9 years ago. I was 48, a classic ectomorph (5'11" 146 pounds) and had no problems with people seeing my female alter as a woman. My hips were 36" and my thighs 20". I am still 146 pounds, hips still 36" but now my thighs are 21".

Other considerations:
The results of fat grafting are very unpredictable and it is EXTREMELY important not to put weight on the freshly grafted fat.

I  had fat transfer to my cheeks a few months ago to restore my face after cancer surgery. I have slept on my back ever since to keep the pressure off the graft. It is almost impossible to to avoid sitting or laying down to keep the weight off the hips/buttocks so the new fat cannot become established. On the flip side (pun intended), fat transfer is a great way to go up 1/2 to full cup size in the breasts, although few people opt for this sort of minor increase.

Of lesser concern for transfer to the hips/buttocks, the grafted fat "remembers"where it came from. As such, fat transferred from the belly to the face would increase much more quickly than normal if a person gains weight.  For this reason doctors do not to like to use the procedure for young people as they may gain weight when they approach middle age and get overly fat in the face.

As an aside, my procedure was very successful, in terms of pain, rapid recovery, the high percentage of fat that survived the transfer and the improvement in my appearance. At my 6 month follow up my plastic surgeon sheepishly admitted he has had patients with no visible fat transfer left at this point. A down side is my face being more "cheeky" has significantly increased my being misgendered as a woman. Shrug, I wear my Van Dyke more. On the flip side, my female alter, Flytrap, is thrilled with how young and pretty the graft has made her face...

You hip growth looks good.  You are getting an hour glass type of body.   I love your update from the other post.  Good luck with your dad.

Once you get passed, i think its called pelvic ossification, which occurs at 25 or so, you will have minimal hip widening. However, i do a ton of yoga and swimming and both have indeed caused my hips to widen even at 32, and my GP was amazed. So there is that. I know my hips hurt for months after i started, i had wide hips for a natal man in the first place.
I would rather regret the things I have done, than the things I have not.
