So yesterday had my blood work follow up doctors visit which allowed me to start hrt, yay! But holy ->-bleeped-<- they weren't joking about Spiro making you pee, this is insane, pretty sure more is going out than in. It's a worse broken seal than drinking. Pretty sure my partner peed less while pregnant. What if I was to have a few drinks, when does the stream end?!? Lol, but in all seriousness does this somewhat stabilize at some point?

I'm not sure if it stabilized or if I simply got used to it. But it does get better.

I sure hope so, cause wow that really came on strong and withing hours of taking my first pills! And from what I've researched, I'm on a pretty low dose to start. Wasn't expecting to notice really any (side)effects for several weeks.

well congrats, it feels wonderful to be finally on hrt, hey

I remember when I started, i got my hormones through injections and I remember that first injection, I could swear I felt the estrogen pumping through my body.

wait until breast development starts.. my tip.. when your nipples become super sensitive to everything, and yes you will some how manage to pump them against something.. wear a padded sports bra to help cushion the blows.
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

Yes it feels wonderful to finally start, something I've known I wanted for 20 years now. And I had the start of breast growth happen to me when I was a mid teen, so know how much it can hurt, not looking forward to that feeling again, but desire the results lol. Actually to this day cant sleep on my stomach cause of it.

Your urination schedule will pretty well be "often".  There are some of us that have reported it getting better on Spiro after a while.  I on the other hand still have to urinate quite often.  I went off Spiro for 6 months a while back and I had no real change in urination.  I got a doctors diagnosis of diuresis.  I'm hopeful that it'll get better some day, but so far it hasn't.

At roughly 8 pounds a gallon, there is also the potential for an "artificial" weight loss with the body holding less fluid.

I have found there are two options with spiro.  You can drink enough water to stay hydrated, and pee a lot.  Or you can drink little enough water that you don't have to pee so much, but you'll be dehydrated.

I will sometimes cut back on my water intake if I know it is going to be problematic to get to a bathroom for a while.  But there is a price to pay for that: dehydration feels like a hangover.  (Most of the effect of an actual hangover is really dehydration, so this feeling is no accident.)  I wake up every morning with a dehydration "hangover", so it takes me two or three glasses of water to begin to feel human.

Drinking alcohol on spiro made me extremely sick. I am/was a heavy drinker. I still never get/got sick like that.

Hello StealthStilettos

Congratulations on starting HRT. It is a wonderful feeling as you take the first tablet or apply the first patch, isn't it? You'll remember that event forever!

I am sorry you have the constant pee problem - it must be frustrating. I am not on Spiro.

I am sure you will enjoy the rollercoaster HRT journey as a whole and I hope the pee problem improves.

Hugs

Pamela

It mostly stabilized in a day for me, but I'm only 3 days into HRT myself  :icon_joy: so I guess that could still change.

I know I'm not dehydrated; I drink more than the recommended amount of water, I just seem to have a larger-than-average bladder too, so maybe it balances out?

I start spiro and estradiol tomorrow, so I have been trying to devour all sorts of info including this thread. Thanks for the heads up on what to potentially expect!
