Told GP today

Hi all

I told my GP today that I have Gender Dysphoria. I was a bit nervous but when the colour drained from his face I couldn't help but laugh. His face was a picture. Goes to show just how clueless some doctors are.

He was very nice about it and at the end of the appointment he shook my hand and said congratulations.

It was a great relief telling someone face to face, it's like getting some of the weight off your mind, also gives it a sense of reality and excitement. I left thinking i'm Really doing this with a big grin on my face.

Also booked my first appointment for voice training.

Do you have medical care available from an expert?

I don't suggest getting care from someone who is reading a chapter ahead in the manual.

Is your GP going to refer you to a specialist or therapist?

I remember when I told my GP, new GP at that, first appointment. The look on his face when I said I'd get it cut off tomorrow if I could .. priceless

It was a young GP Registrar, he didn't know what hit him. I'm going to be under the care of the GenderGP who is going to set up a shared care program. He has however set up my first blood test.

Is it wrong that I don't want to cut off my John Thomas? For me it is just something I use to pee and is ugly as hell. Don't get me wrong, I do want to see it gone so I can live and love as a full woman.

I don't know if I would tell a doctor again. I did with a new doc earlier this year and it changed things. He just didn't take my physical concerns seriously after that. I've switched again, but unless they ask, I won't say. That said, if you've had a good doctor for a while and you have an inkling they'd be fine with it, have at it. I thought I'd start out with new doc with a clean slate and have an open dialogue. Better to wait and see.

Hell, no! I love mine and use it to great effect.
