OK, I am an older trans (at least I believe that I am trans), who is thinking about getting writ of her mal hardware.

I have a lot of dreams seeing myself naked and absolutely smooth at my bottom, no trace of something that could resemble a vagina.  But I am also lesbian, which means, any penetration is not a major issue for me.

I discussed this with my psychologist, who is specialized in LGBTQ issues (she actually practices in Europe and the US, and has her doctorate from Europe), and she feels that me being lesbian might be the reason for not seeing me with anything at my bottom.  I am also extremely breast oriented.

She feels that I should get gender reassignment surgery asap, because of a ton of dysphoria.  She recommends a vaginoplasty without a vaginale cavity.  I am in an age at which one night stands are not common, and being lesbian would not require to have a hole down there.
This surgery is way less involved and invasive, and consequently the risk of any infection is dramatically reduced. Furthermore, the surgery is way shorter, and this means the anesthesia is a lot shorter, which reduces another risk factor.

Has anybody here had this kind of SRS?

I have full depth however several members have had the cosmetic version of the surgery and are happy with the results. The reason they decided on that type of surgery are much the same as yours. They will probably be checking in over the next few days so continue to watch this thread.

I am scheduled for what is know as a modified vaginoplasty on December 14 in Philadelphia.   I have done extensive research on the subject, and have been in contact with two women who have had the procedure.   While it is somewhat less invasive then a full depth vaginoplasty, it is still a major surgery and not to be taken lightly.  Recovery takes weeks and months.

I think you have to be aware that this type of procedure has ALL the outward appearance of a full vaginoplasty.  All that is missing is the depth for intercourse, that is obviously not visible from the outside. Generally there is a one half or one inch depth.  It certainly will not satisfy your "I have a lot of dreams seeing myself naked and absolutely smooth at my bottom, no trace of something that could resemble a vagina."

Otherwise,  the reasons you have are close to mine.  Being an older woman, wanting a less risky surgery, not wanting to have to dilate the rest of my life, and not seeing penetrable sex in the future.   However, we are very different in that when I look in the mirror I want to see a vagina! :)

I do feel the need to add one thing.   This is not a "cosmetic version"  as Dena wrote. You pee from within your vagina like any woman, you have a clitoris and are capable of orgasim!

I've always thought the smoothie look was a "nullo" (orchiectomy, scrotectomy, penectomy), and a vulvaplasty was a vagina with no vault?

I made my living in research on surgical stuff.  You can rest assured that I try to prevent any unnecessary cutting into my skin, and know what consequences any risks any surgery has.

I think that I am "blank" in my dreams down there, because I have never seen any pictures how one would look like after this surgery.  That means, my brain has no images to project onto my body, and that might be that I am "blank" down there.  I am not a psychologist, but the one I am working with seems to feel that this surgery is what I want/need.

I, too want to see a woman in the mirror when I look at my body.  And this desire has nothing to do with sex.  I have not had sex for almost 10 years now, and sex is on a real back burner for me. Being able to have an orgasm would be just the icing on the top, but to achieve this, a lot of me has to change, because I can't do this now with my current condition.  But again, I hope I will become a different person, and who knows what else will change?

i think the :nullo" look is only there in my mind, because i have no idea how such a vgina would look like.  I hope very much that I will get one.  I don't care what it is called, but I don't think that I will need a "vault" because I hope that I never ever will see a penis again after mine was removed!
