Hey Sisters!

I got my new Betsey Johnson dress back from my local seamstress... She took the waist in a bit for me and I like the way it turned out!... She was actually one of the first people I came out to in 2013 when I was just starting down the path... I would go in her shop, in guy mode... with dresses and blouses to alter and it meant a lot back then to me that she always greeted me warmly and sought to do things just how I wanted them done... She is Korean by birth and her English isn't great but, we always get it done and seeing her always brings a smile for the part she has played in this new life I have forged...

This dress doesn't seem to photograph as nice as it looks in person!... Looking forward to an excuse to wear it out!!!

I haven't posted anything here in a while, but I am going to a cookout this afternoon and decided to wear a new dress. When I decided to begin this journey I looked in the mirror and thought 'I'm going to make one ugly woman.' I looked in the mirror today and began to cry. I can't believe the person staring back is me.

Well done beautiful sister and a big thank you for reviving so many threads to get things moving post Crash of '24  :D

I will make a quick contribution too... It is fun seeing where I was four years ago in this thread vs now.. I use less makeup these days after developing some allergic reactions to some of my favorite brands but, i have found some clean brands that work well and i like my new color of tinted contacts much better than what i had in 2019...Anyway ...I always find myself buying clothes out of season...Here are a couple of my latest fashion quest.. Just in time for winter!!! 😅⛄️🙄...the denim overall shorts/romper look

Beautiful as always, Ashley!

Susan's Place is built on posts, so the quickest way to get this going again is to... post! I'm going through my personal backup (made with 'cut and paste') and reposting topics which I found interesting. I didn't start many of them originally, but I think the topics they cover are important to many of us.

Thanks for helping us get this site moving again Ashley!

Hey Sister!

It was fun to see this thread bumped today... These "Fabulous" threads used to be kind of the social center of the forum for quite a while, offering support, encouragement and a wonderful first place for many seeking to finally show themselves after a lifetime of hiding under a blanket woven from the fibers of their own fears... the threads often advanced several pages on a good day... not sure why it became more of a forgotten corner here but, sadly, it did!... I think we lost the most recent versions of the thread in the data crash but, I would love to see it be the launchpad to a new life that it was for so long in the past...

I always viewed it really as one of the most important threads here... where those who were seeking Hope about what their future might hold and how they might be seen and accepted by others... came and saw that others who have dared to do the big scary thing they think they might do... did it... and they look great... and they look happy... and maybe, just maybe... they could show their face to the world and be happy too!

I hope you feel assured in your brave steps forward Lilis... Especially the one on 6/10/24... 🤗...The life and the world you want is patiently awaiting you... If I can ever be of any help navigating your way, please do not hesitate to let me know!

Hey Ashley, I totally agree! It was so exciting to come across the "Fabulous" threads as I navigated the site. I've seen different versions and have spent hours reading through those posts, feeling so inspired by everyone's journeys. It felt like such a supportive space, just like you described.

QuoteI always viewed it really as one of the most important threads here... where those who were seeking Hope about what their future might hold and how they might be seen and accepted by others... came and saw that others who have dared to do the big scary thing they think they might do... did it... and they look great... and they look happy... and maybe, just maybe... they could show their face to the world and be happy too!

You hit the nail on the head. This is how I felt reading through these. It showed me that I am not alone in my fears and that taking the leap could be incredibly rewarding. Seeing others accepted and happy was so powerful, it really is giving me the courage to step outside my comfort zones.

Thank you so much, Ashley! Your words of encouragement really mean a lot. The 6/10/24 step was a big one, it feels amazing to be moving forward. I truly appreciate your offer to help navigate – having your support is invaluable. Onward we go!

Hey Lilis!

Just in case you haven't run across them, The old Before/After threads were very much in the same vein as the Fabulous threads with the added advantage of seeing just how far from the starting line so many had ventured... Again, we lost the latest version in the crash but here is a link to one of the threads...

https://www.susans.org/index.php/topic,210798.1740.html

One of my favorite things was seeing the often grim or expressionless looks in the before pics and the glowing smiles in the newer after shots. The joyful power of finally connecting with self expression after a lifetime of hiding is seldom more apparent.

Hi Ashley,

No I haven't seen them, the link you sent to the old Before/After threads is amazing – it's incredible to see those transformations. The difference in those photos is truly heartwarming. It's a shame we lost the latest version in the crash, but hopefully someone manages to salvage it.

Thank you so much for the link, I'll look into them.

Hugs ,

I posted this photo in my blog, but I think it deserves to be here as well. Even after over six years of being myself, I still have a hard time believing this is me. Yes, I had some help from estradiol and a few surgeons, but I never dreamed I could look like this. I see the photo and think 'wow', then my brain says 'no, it's just you'. In many ways, we are our own worst enemies. It's amazing to think that at one time I had two choices, transition or abruptly end my journey. If I had known that one day I would look like this, the decision would have been much easier.

Dear Barbie:
I am thrilled to see that you have returned to the Forum after your absence.
Your presence and your updates with your posted photos are very nice for me see again.
You were missed by me and many other Forum members.

I was hoping that you would return to the Susan's Place Forum after your absence.
As you are aware, the site experienced a site crash on January 1st this year and much
data was lost including member accounts, postings, private messaging, etc.

Through what seemed to be endless work, our staff has done a great job in piecing things
together again to very quickly have a fully operation site even though much of the lost
data appears to be unrecoverable.

Some things have changed here on the Forum since you were last here... you should
read a couple announcements that were posted after the crash:

... and be certain to read the revised and updated Terms of Service rules for the site.
As we embark on this new chapter, we urge all returning members to familiarize themselves

Oh, thanks for remembering and welcoming me, Danielle and Oldandcreaky. I will look around here to see what has changed and is going on, but I guess the number of active members has been steadily decreasing because of social network services.

In retrospect, COVID-19 changed some aspects of my life a lot. My body weight substantially increased, but I did not notice it. Now it is in my ideal condition. Still, I sometimes feel it awkward not to wear a mask in public places.

My recent video clip and another during the covid-19 period.
